I'm not sure what you mean here, since the sun wouldn't cast a shadow of itself since the sun is a ball of light.
I can't wrap my head around whether or not you mean:
a) it's not made realistic
b) it wouldn't be real to throw a shadow
I'm also sorry that I just can't leave this remark alone because it's bugging the shit out of my head because I can't tell what side of the joke it's on.
he's just going along with the joke m9
Also jokerings aside, if it was really that close to earth to appear at that scale, not only would it be far too bright for any normal camera gear to expose properly, but if you could get a decent image- all you would be able to see is a shrieking, fiery hellscape.

Not to mention there wouldn't be sun reflections from window panels facing THE OTHER SIDE
So you're saying this isn't a real picture??
Heavy wip, going to draw a sci fi city background behind it and add some doors for the night club and stuff... Crit me.

i drew a cave story
I was bored and decided to do a spitpaint (sorry Kagrs, I don't have an orange around right now :v:)
This is what I managed to do in 30 minutes:

I didn't really like it so I spent another 15 minutes messing around and:

Okay it still looks like crap but... better looking crap?
Your value range is sufficient but your brushwork and blending techniques are awful. There's a reason they spent two and a half pages arguing about fixed opacity on brushes or not. Your brushwork is far too soft and you've been using far too low of an opacity. Not only is this giving you soft muddy edges, but desaturated murky colors as well.
Edit:
Sorry, they're not awful, but they do need work. I don't want to be mean ;(
your brush size is far too small. you're still trying to mark individual areas when you should be painting broad strokes and setting the tone first, before working on detail

Sorry, force of habit. I got used to drawing in details first (I would always start with something like the face, ear, chin or shoulders first and then expand using more details. In fact I'm so used to it I get confused if I do it the other way around (aka the "right" way)

But if I apply the pressure to increase the opacity it feels like I'm scraping the pen with the tablet (I normally have a pretty heavy stroke, and I fear I may scratch the tablet, maybe I should set a minimum opacity?)
Well it's only going to get harder to learn to do it the 'proper' way, so if you're going to make the switch (I think you should), best to do it now.
the solution is to not change opacity with the pressure.
I already started doing the switch (I didn't know I was doing it "wrong" until I started using iScribble last month), and I'm doing it slowly too. I picked up books on anatomy and perspective, and I plan on reading them in my free time and applying what I learn/reference some images from them.
I already did a neck to arm anatomy reference from a friend's Atlas of anatomy book, maybe I'll post it later.
oh? who are you on there?
Whaaat! I stopped using iScribble once dA took notice and it became a text RPG in the chat section accompanied with sexually frustrated furry/anime illustrations. Before then it was awesome and everyone could help everyone and give criticism. I tried doing that again after a long break from the site and was threatened with bans!
oh boy
there's reasons for that and i can tell you all about it since i've been there since 09.
rp was banned in like, 2011 and was actually recently unbanned, much to my dismay.
im your go to guy to talk about iscribble
oh? who are you on there?
Pretty much the same username as this one, minus the underscore.

It's pretty chill if you know where to look, a lot of the people there like anime/roleplay, but most are pretty fun people to draw and chat with (there's significantly less activity than two years ago though). Some guy even pointed out how me drawing details first was wrong and much more difficult than drawing the basic figure first.

Ok I feel like some traveler arriving at a ruined city now, what the hell did I miss? I made an account about 2-3 years ago and didn't use it until last month.
in the beginning, there was the drawing game, of which 8 artists draw a topic in the time given and the winner is chosen by a judge to become the new judge.
everything changed when the rpers came
soon we had not only various fantasy and high school image and text rps, of which were mostly full of "romance" because people can't think without their hormones for more than 2 seconds, but also an enormous multitude of furry, warrior cat, wolf mating seasons, underage sex, incest, sex, fetish and sex rps.
this eventually culminated in the mods having enough of it and so rp was banned from public boards.
this was the beginning of what some call the dark times. iscribble went on with their drawing games for another year or so, in addition to general drawing boards.
then came the advent of the oc request board. 3 slots on a board for artists to take and draw for people who signed up for their list (http://oi51.tinypic.com/mb2yv5.jpg). this became the next best thing since sliced bread, after all, who wouldn't want their character drawn by pretty good artists for absolutely nothing?
drawing games soon died out and oc request boards reigned supreme for a good 2 years or so. but people were still leaving iscribble until at its peak there were no more than 200 users or so who were active at all and only 80 of those even sat around in public boards, since most had disappeared off into private boards to do their shitty rps.
seeing this, one of the mods got it in their smart little head that it would be a good idea to bring rp back, in order to introduce more people onto the site (never mind the fact that iscribble has no advertising whatsoever so such a move is ultimately pointless).
and so, about 2 months ago, they brought rp back and everything is terrible again.

Oh god I remember these, that was like my favourite thing ever to do back when I was like 13. My god that was so long ago, fond memories of really shit drawing but it was great fun and practice. Especially since your tools were so limited if you didnt get premium or whatever it was
Still no sex though :v: .Well except for that one time when me and some German sat down drawing two buff eggmen with mutated super dongers coming out of every pore, some other user joined and I typed "leave, mortal!" then out of the blue a mod replies "me?, a mere mortal?", it was hilarious

They still work, and I thoroughly enjoy them
If we could get enough people it would be neat to have a facepunch private board for whatever we want
