I wish I could run something more sophisticated than MyPaint on this tablet Or even do big paintings without enormous lag In the meantime, here's a shitty eye I did (ref'd)
i think you tried to render too many details without detailing everything else first the skin is still blocked in but the iris and individual hairs of the lashes and the brow is way too detailed as well as the iris
There's only so many times I can go on parroting the same fucking thing to the same fucking people before I lose the will to live.
creative-work-itis This is so true and I wholly support your unconstructive post
Gettin' there. Edit: Whoa, I didn't even see the last couple of posts but this works omg
Holy shit, I think there's no artist you would shame if you were to slip this into their portfolio, it's one of the best pieces I've ever seen in CC. Really beautiful, 10/10
Thanks guys, all useful stuff! I'm really going for the saturated look but I'm going to experiment with the background a bit more. dnqboy I shall fix the building more to the back the foreground buildings are okay right? Anyway here's my cheap door fix: Better?
when you added the door the whole image changed for me. i assumed the scale was way bigger than that. like i thought that gangway would fit a crowd of hundreds of people on it which would be cool as shit but now i realise it'd be awkward to have more than like 2 people walk down it side-by-side, and by awkward i mean dangerous as shit which seems like a bad idea for a gangway outside a club where thousands of drunk and drugged up people are gonna pile out of at 3am?

Been crawling my way up from page 208 holy shit. No negret though, because I got to see so many great drawings and paintings. btw I'm trying to draw things with minimal linework. I was just looking over some of my old art (at the account below) and I noticed something. Six or seven years ago I had a bunch of IRL and online friends who drew chibis and animu like I did. I've changed my art style a lot these past few years (and I mean A LOT), but I look at their stuff and their style is the same. It hasn't changed like at all; like it's been frozen in time. Does anybody have this with their art friends/acquaintances? Why do some people go out of their way to cling to their old style? But yeah I agree it's a bit narrow. It would be cool to have the scale you're talking about, could you do like a sketch of what's in your head?
To me, the only style I clinged to was the dark comedy/ horror themes of the doodles I used to make in my depression stage. I really like the way it turns out at times so I kind of stuck to it. I still change my drawing style as I improve, but slightly.

I know I got stuck in a style and am just recently truly breaking out of it. Some people find change hard and don't want to work to change it.

Old account: http://k00k00kach00.deviantart.com/prints/
This is one of the things I find most annoying about Deviantart. Most of the users cling to style over learning and they feel the need to make it a big deal and an announcement any time they "change their style". I won't go into full depth here but the users of the site (many whom I don't think really need to worry) are very paranoid of art theft and copying, they focus on that and plaster huge image ruining watermarks on things, and focus on having a recognizable style over all else, so people will notice if their work is stolen. A unique recognizable style isn't bad but it really shouldn't be as much of a focus as people on there make it. Also its just to some extent the anime drawing. Most of my friends have been drawing anime stuff for a long time. The best example to me though is this one girl I met in middle school. Her drawings were never fantastic (veryyyyy pointy anime style with bad anatomy but a lot of detailing) I started drawing by copying her, and then copying images from Bleach anime, (I started learning observational drawing there actually, although not from a good source I trained the skill I just realized that is why I had such an easier time with it than the rest of my friends when we started in high school huh) Then in High School our school had a good program, lots of observational drawing anatomy study etc, starting in grade 9. I rocketed from there above the rest of my friend group since I hadn't been drawing as long and hadn't hard wired one anime style into my brain for drawing. That continued through high school and although most of my art through that time was still not that good, it was leaps and bounds better than theirs, while they still strugged with that one style and slowly pushing out of it. A few of them have had break through the last year or so, finally doing better observational work and improving. But her? The one I started copying and who had been drawing since she was like 5, she has only barely improved since. It seems like most people just really don't push boundaries enough. Especially those (based on my friend group and people on DA at least) who have been drawing the longest, and grew up with tons of praise for it without the push for critique and improvement
[t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7346219/demonhunter.jpg[/t] just a little doodle, I wanna start a set of overlapping illustrated stories so I'm working on a silly demon hunter type dude first c:

Fuck that nightclub.
Dem buns. Anyway, either the torso is too long or the arms are too short, not to mention the other non significant anatomical issues. [editline]13th April 2014[/editline] Also I've been messing around with flash lately, tell me what you think
Upper body is good, but the knees bend weirdly and I think the legs are too short anyway. But I like the hair especially.

Although I'm glad I was able to create a unique style when I was younger, I plateaued because of stubborness. The jumps I've made this past year just from doing my observational work are crazy AND it helped make my style 10x better.

The scale change doesn't really require any visual changes. Just remove the door, get rid of the sign, and imagine that the steps are landings.
I think the legs are too short.
Would it help if I pretend the belt is too low/loose? :v:
I'm sure this helped him understand what he did wrong.
I'm sure it did.

Sniper design I made. I tried to make it modern and not too futuristic. I like how it came out!
Hmm nah arms are too noodly
Looks pretty weak to be in the military imo
Looks pretty weak to be in the military imo
Hmm... I could size down his head to make his body look a little bigger. If that doesn't work, I'll redraw his body again before I ink it.
Painted my drawing from earlier [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/7346219/demonhunterpaint.jpg[/t]
