now I'm kind of curious what your high-tier pivot users could potentially (or already have) produce in full 3D animation and such
it would have a lot of keyframes, which would lead to somewhat jarring and stop motion-esque animation. in addition, there are so many more variables to keep track of that are simply not present in pivot animations.
i needed something to draw, so I searched "me" on tumblr and drew based on some random person's selfie

reminds me of the Castle series quite a bit, which i really dig
now I'm kind of curious what your high-tier pivot users could potentially (or already have) produce in full 3D animation and such
The thing with that is though, a lot of pivot users use pivot because it's simple to use and full 3D animation is anything but.
It would be a struggle to say the least.
I thought it was the style, pretty jazzy sci-fi. I like it a lot. Makes it feel like the city is built crooked/on a curve.
I'm a novice drawer, I've only started drawing around 2-3 weeks ago as I've been trying a ton of new hobbies. Tried drawing an owl but I haven't finished yet, any criticism?

tried redrawing something from 2011 and oh god i am cringing so hard
i guess i've improved but i can't say that i'm that good at painting yet hghhg
your values are good but you need to look at colour more. although your tones in general could do with some more colour contrast for mood, you especially need to look at skin-tone colour in terms of blood-flow around the face
[t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/maybe7.jpg[/t]
something a bit like this maybe?
forgive me if it's totally off i'm trying to calibrate my monitors atm
[editline]16th April 2014[/editline]
the general rule is some orange/yellow tones across the forehead area, red across the middle, and bluer at the bottom, but you'll want to tone this down a lot - especially the blue - for women and children. and then of course depending on the weather and ethnicity and overall look you're going for, the cheeks and nose specifically should be redder. ears are redder and when there's light shining from behind you have to take into account the luminescence of some really harsh subsurface-scattering

wouldn't say it's the result I'm expecting but it's kinda okay working with gouache.
A lot of people use gouache wrong. Gouache is just a more opaque watercolor, so it needs to be used the same way. If you have watercolor first do an underpainting with watercolor. Block out the general shapes and colors etc. Then when you start using gouache you need to think in terms of layers, since you can apply paint on top of paint as many times as you want basically. Look up some tutorials that explain how working in layers should be done.
so, it's best that I use watercolours first then gouache for the little details? Also, is it necessary for me to add in white paint where light falls onto an object or should I just leave those parts unpainted?
He's not saying to actually use water colors, lol. He's just saying to paint with gouache in a similar fashion to how you would paint with watercolor, with layering and gradual blocking in of detail and value.
I use watercolor for the first layer when doing gouache because it's easier to work from. This is how I did this painting Leaving the white spaces unpainted is a dumb style imo, and it's only really used for watercolors because of how transparent they are. When I paint with watercolor I use gouache or acrylic to paint the white spaces because I think the paper ruins the illusion of the painting. For gouache you would just paint it white.

this one's really good. damn.
Light without form
Stars, galaxies, the universe.
all dim specks against the glare of city light
The blood moon disappears behind a sodium vapor haze -
not even the brilliance of our nearest neighbor could penetrate
the walls of light that surround our cities, blinding us to the moment.
The moment; the instant when upon looking into the night sky one
comes to realize the insignificance of the world, of the self. When
staring out into the infinite sea of distant, old light that they realize
that the world itself is but a speck in the sea. That the only way to
reach for the stars is for every mind to be free. Free to search, free
to love, free to despair, and free to wish. Ah, but the wish.
The wish it exists, in that sole lonely moment - when the mind comes
to realize the potential of everything if it would only come together,
if only cosmic hands would guide the universe to serendipity - but alas,
the wish is lost without the will to make it a reality. The reality exists
as a series of moments, shared by everyone but limited by their own
experience. Reality is as the mind comprehends it, and we are beyond
seven billion strong. To think of the flow of wishes and effort into the
abyss, lost to the forgotten realms of time is to acknowledge a sea of
lost dreams, ever growing by the second. Is it not human to want to
make more of those dreams a reality?
Humanity - oh what a fickle, funny thing. It exists in the moment but is
gone in the next, forgotten in the name of convenience, of safety, and
profit. The sorrow one feels for the homeless is forgotten when they
finally strike it big and every moment and every dream that got them
to where they were is forgotten for the sake of furthering selfish and
lonely desires.
Oh but humanity, it prevails. Even when it seems all is lost it is guaranteed
that at least a few will stand aside from the flocks and gaze upon them in
contemplation. And in those moments dreams will form, and in those
dreams the potential is seized - forged into reality: To be taken for granted
but never forgotten as one of the many conquests of humanity. This
humanity it prevails, on that pale blue dot - not too long ago nothing in the
grand scheme of things.
Anyone familiar with sculpting with plaster? I'm doing this sculpture and I wanted to paint it but idk if I have to buy something specific to seal it or if I can just use gesso? Also do you do anything to seal it after you paint it?
This isn't it but it's another thing I did to figure out how sculpting in plaster works. I'll paint this first to test it out

I did a painting for daily spitpaint, but apparently my concept was way too hard for me and ended up taking 2 hours instead of 30 minutes :V:. Topic was Helicopter fight.

The sunbeams are really bad though, how do I get the desired effect properly if my hand is so shaky?
Use your brush, mark the desired starting point. Hold down Crtl and mark the desired ending point. Keep in mind your pressure sensitivity.

I think it has some resemblance, but to be fair I've seen quite a few artists use a similar style. I don't think it belongs to one artist, but I think it's a nice style.

Oh yeah, sorry.
Does anyone know some artists who put out visual demonstrations on character design? I'm thinking in the same type of way Feng Zhu does environments, but with a main focus on the characters?
