been working on a new game for a few months (started in december haven't worked on it up until this week.) if anyone wants to help test out, I open the server every sunday for bug testing and suggestions. Sign up here http://fco2.forumotion.cc/
Not 100% the right section but I 1000% need advice from people with good sense of style- does this credit sequence look like shit? Stills will be replaced with video (film isn't shot yet) and I can't leave them up any longer because I have 10 seconds to fit 6 people.
change font, align text, could work.
"Align text"? Please explain in laymans terms for stupid me and I'd love a font recommendation as well, I'm clueless with such matters.
"Align text"? Please explain in laymans terms for stupid me and I'd love a font recommendation as well, I'm clueless with such matters.
Center justification etc.
I still don't get it. In relation to each other, or in relation to their respective rectangular solids?
I don't know what he means in particular, I think it's fine. You could change the text though, it looks rather plain.
Sorry for clogging up the thread with all of these questions, but any suggestions of what to actually do to it? Different font is a given I suppose, but what else is there? Text effects??
add explosions and lens flares
You know it's sad because even as a joke it actually looks a lot more interesting visually :( [t]http://puu.sh/8fy4C.jpg[/t]
I think the colours feel really 90s high-school educational video The font should also be more vertically aligned; even just looking at the lens flare thumbnail I can see the 'AS' isn't vertically centered I'd be tempted to do away with those kind of awkward strip-post-it-note-style text boxes. Check out some well-established Youtube vids that feature a lot of on-screen typography and try analyse what they are doing with their text that makes it -look good -stand out from the video -easy to read -match the mood/tone they are trying to create [editline]20th April 2014[/editline] The motion is great though and the music fits that motion. I think it just feels a bit soulless graphically because it's using styles and imagery that have been used so heavily throughout the 90s that they're now empty of all meaning and emotion
It's a one minute deadpan-ish comedy sketch so I think it's as appropriate a mood/tone as I can come up with, pending my knowledge and experiences with style/culture/genre. I'm afraid if I turn to YouTube I'll only find lens flares, 3d text renders, dubstep, and more weird 3DCG stuff. For color I only had it in my head to start with yellow and I'm open to try whatever. I just think overall it should be really bold and jumpy instead of like, minimalistic and elegant as a lot of modern graphic design projects seem to prefer. Either way for me the only priorities were -Energetic/hectic -Brief but legible Still, thank you very much for the advice. Still looking for font suggestions if I've made a mistake with Orator.
Peeps who've been wanting to chat, I finally got internet at my apartment. Send me your dick pics bitches* skype: normandy.france *You guys aren't bitches, and I don't want the penis at the moment

And who asked if I suck dick on my website? I know it was one of all y'all... Who did the thing.... [editline]19th April 2014[/editline] My auto merge. I love the glowy mushroom stuff, keep it coming.
How do you guys get so much work done at home? I'm starting to think I should get medication so I could actually concentrate on something enough to work on it for more than 5 minutes at a time.
And actually read all of those long informative posts in the thread, because what Jallen has said has been said many times before, to many people who should definitely be listening. Frankly we should get all of the top dogs here to put a "How to: Arting" guide together to make a stickied post so we can just send people there when need be.
that would be cool, I'd definitely appreciate something like that. I've just been drawing and copying shit using references, but idk how to improve and how I'm supposed to in certain area's of course I could find all that info on the internet, but it would be cool if some made a basic layout here. I do read all the informative posts people post here though too

We could still make suggestions in this thread, but if someone isn't listening we could just send them off to the sticky guide at risk of a rough backhand. Also moved my credits sequence to it's own thread, but I'd still love suggestions on the latest model! http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1387117&p=44593106#post44593106

It was a tough call between funny or agree, so I had to toss a coin.
But guys REAL artists obviously dont need to practice the basics and build up their skills in steps, or listen to anyone else's suggestions. You just gotta feel the pencil man you know?

Working without a direct refence is fucking brutal for me. I started roughing out the drawing, though I gotta refine the details and all this random shit that I have no idea what to do with. Then I gotta start the painting tomorrow oh god

when people design armour they often forget about the person inside, sketch the person naked first then the outfit over/around them. when working on large canvas i often used to lose sight of the overall image, start big with your primitives, get the form, perspective and proportions down before working on the smaller stuff. on digital its easy to have a second monitor with your work fully zoomed out but in the real world you'll often want to take a step back or walk away from your piece for a while. also in your case hold up against a window in reverse, mirroring the image can make shit tonnes of problems jump out at you. its a very handy command to have keybound when working digital as well.
But why do the problems appear when I mirror it? What causes it?
When you draw, your eyes get adjusted to the drawing, ignoring mistakes. When you mirror it, its like looking at a new drawing. Which makes the errors pop out. The same will happen if you take a break, forget the drawing for a while and then come back. Not the best explanation, but its something like that.
Nope it's because mirrors have magical properties of critique! [editline]21st April 2014[/editline] ha ha new page and all you get is this shitty joke!
Not really sure where to ask, but does anyone know how images such as this are actually created? [t]http://www.gamerdna.com/uimage/kaO2wVTb/full/fallout-3-the-brotherhood-of-steel.jpg[/t] Is it an actual drawing/painting? I know professional concept artists are good but there's so much detail. Would it be a digital painting or is it more photo manipulation or what. After trying to draw something similar I find it hard to believe someone could create something like that from scratch.
it's actual painting :V just because you think it's out of your reach doesn't mean it's impossible.
