I've never animated before, so here's my first attempt. Doing it with warped perspective and sloppy style made it a bit easier to cover up major mistakes. Did it in about 20 minutes in photoshop. Though honestly for what it is I'm pleased. I think I may actually look into animation tutorials and then see how it goes.
lip sync tests in SFM. technically this is going to be my submission for my specialist project when it's done.
I think you're adding too many movements per word. Like you're breaking the word down to its letters and trying to make sure you've got a mouth movement for each letter, when you really don't need to. Especially considering that the dialogue coming from Marlon Brando's slack jaw, you should be seeing much looser mouth movements more garbly mouth movements. You're also completely lacking emotiveness in the face. He's not making any expression based off what he's saying. Sure his eyebrows move, but expressions should affect his entire face, not just the upper half. His face is also perfectly symetrical, and his mouth shapes are constantly repeating, like you just always pulled the same slider whenever you heard a certain letter sound. Maybe have him talk from one side of his mouth more than the other, give him some interestion mouth shapes. Film yourself lip syncing to the dialogue, use it as a reference point, and work on giving him some emotion while he's talking.
thanks for the pointers! still working on it so most of that stuff hasn't been touched yet but i'll keep it in mind when i do it :D
goddammit frank it's not really too many movements, it's that they're too active/go too far for that speed also I feel you're using the smile slider too much with too little platysmus, balance them out a bit also yeah animating the rest of the face adds a lot, demo i made a while back: [editline]29th April 2014[/editline] read Stop Staring: Facial Modeling and Animation Done Right [editline]29th April 2014[/editline]
Do you need to go to school to learn how to animate like this, or is it possible through self-teaching and learning from internet resources? I've wanted to learn how to animate for a long time, but I have no idea what kind of higher education there is for it, or if I'd even be able to make it into something like that at my current state of artistic ability.
read/watch The Animator's Survival Kit

Looks pretty rad. Btw is there a way to program the wacom tablet to simulate the wacom´s tablet buttons onto a keyboard button? [editline]29th April 2014[/editline] Like it´s in osu!.
Wacom tablet keys just tranlate to button presses anyway.. They just link to a programs hotkeys.
If you have macro keys on your keyboard you can set them to the same function.
So I recently found a really great figure drawing book if anyone's interested. It's called Figure Drawing Design and Invention by Michael Hampton and he goes into very detailed examples and explanations about how to draw a proper volumetric figure as well as other things, and he talks about planes a lot. He talks about all the parts of the body and there's detailed sections on both the skeletal framework and muscle groups and anything you would possibly need to know. It's a great book, i found the pdf here too. $25 if you wanna buy it http://www.amazon.com/Figure-Drawing-Invention-Michael-Hampton/dp/0615272819
I found the Loomis series to be especially helpful as well as human anatomy for artists by Eliot Goldfinger (bwa bwaaa bwaaaa)
I've got that book!

I edited this picture of Elsa from frozen into this: [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/RFiTOrV.png[/img_thumb] The lines are pretty rough because I made it using a touch pad.
I should have said made, since I made a pretty rough outline of the head shape then trying to do everything just from looking at it
Really? How much of an outline? Since it all looks very traced and (upon layering them) lines up exactly ...

Light is brightest on the top of the planet, why is there a huge red corona on the left of it then? Binary star system? Wouldn't be that red unless it was a red giant and if it was close enough for the light to still be tinged that red, it would be close enough to cook the whole planet. sorry i look for the feasibility in everything
