Thing I made for school
I'm dead. I am reaching you from beyond the grave in a shitty phone. Here's a 5 min sketch to remember me by. http://imgur.com/19iwTLK
I've been doing charcoal work and I needed to smooth out the paper so I started sanding it down, and now I have paper dust all over me I think I have a full sheet of paper in my lungs, I doubt it's very healthy
now I'm kind of curious what your high-tier pivot users could potentially (or already have) produce in full 3D animation and such
I've come back to say I may have found an answer [del]didn't have a proper source unfortunately[/del]
It's literally right in the gif http://animatorsteve.weebly.com/
It's literally right in the gif http://animatorsteve.weebly.com/
damn I was really distracted though it's practically invisible on my laptop screen unless I tilt it right

So I've decided I should start practicing art again, or at least drawing since in second semester next year I'll be doing art 30 which is grade 12 art and I'd rather not be bad again after a year of no art. I'd like to really improve in this time, so far I've only been observational and mostly still life but I'd like to do more art of people. I just sat down for 20 minutes and did some like, sketches or something of people from pictures (http://artists.pixelovely.com/practice-tools/figure-drawing/). I'm not sure if it's helping though, what should I be making sure I nail in doing these? Is this simply warm-up before I should be doing something else? This is one page of what I did out of two, thoughts or anything? http://imgur.com/jTrpVNz I did a couple more pages and then decided to actually flesh one out more, I've never drawn a full person, clothed or naked so I've really no idea what I'm doing but, I've ended up with this: imgur.com/qrLMDX8 ref http://imgur.com/gGPdVkD There's a couple issues I noticed but can someone point out others and how to fix them hopefully, I've written a couple on there already I think. Purposely didn't render the cloth btw, not what I was worried about, more the person. Also shading critique, I haven't shaded for many months or even drawn so I'm completely open for info.
first thing's first, forget about shading for now. stick figure sketches are not practice except maybe if you're an animator and pretty much not even then. right now, on the one you actually drew a figure for, you're pretty much drawing what you think you see, not what you actually are. lilyo or whoever can probably tell you more since they're more of an artist than an animator like i am.
@Guzbone You're gonna have to forget all about rendering and shading for now and work on weight, balance and proportions. With that lady holding a scarf you have to completely ignore the scarf and instead work on getting her arms and head correct. It's really obvious that the areas with a scarf are those where your proportions are the worst; it's distracting you too much. Get some guide lines in there and don't be afraid to use them, maybe practice pencil sensitivity so you're sure of what's guidelines and what's figure lines.

Honestly I just reccomend CtrlPaint when people want to learn how to draw. His Traditional drawing videos are excellent. http://www.ctrlpaint.com/library
Does anyone know what's a good program for doing animations like on paper?
Does anyone know what's a good program for doing animations like on paper?
you could use photoshop's timeline to create a sequence of frames, and for each frame just make a new solid white layer that you draw on. should be some simple tutorials on doing that
Two pieces made with indian ink: They're fairly large, around one meter in length. I really need to let go of the lines. I want to get better at defining shapes with shading alone.
There fairly large, around one meter in length. I really need to let go of the lines. I want to get better at defining shapes with shading alone.
But your lines are so pretty :(
But your lines are so pretty :(
If we never stepped out of our comfort zones we wouldn't develop. The shading looks really good especially considering the medium, damn.
helpful tutorial on guns because friend was drawing guns and needed help for drawing guns gun
I was really bored today and wanted to draw something other than anatomy practice. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/jg4IY6n.jpg?1[/img_thumb]
Designed a T-Shirt for a project I'm working on woop woop. Super happy with it.

[editline]ohjeezpageking[/editline] Oh jeez page king, gotta post content. Here's an animation I did that used that photoshop timeline mode. There's not much plot to this and more for me to mess around with animation. :v:
Huh, why would you make an animation that complicated in a nitpicky and user-unfriendly (animation wise) program like Photoshop?
What's the difference? Have you tried using Photoshop to animate? It's basically identical to Flash or other animation specific programs and much easier to use and work in imo.

The layer system and the way you handle tweening makes more sense there in my opinion. Having the library instead of having everything in the layers window is a painsaver. The way Photoshop supports animation is more ideal for video editing. It's almost like using Premiere Pro, just with an UI that is not fit for purpose.

[sp]If you actually can somehow please educate me, I will love you forever[/sp]

I know the tools well enough to mess around with it and the video timeline aspect of it seem pretty basic for animation. It's got onion skins, allows you to duplicate frames and you can modify a frame as if it was an image for Photoshop. Flash is also vector based which I'm not exactly a fan of how it looks. The only bitmap based animation software I'm aware of is Photoshop and TVPaint. I probably didn't give it a chance but TVPaint's UI always felt sluggish to me and seemed out of date. Also, I would not advise using Photoshop as a video editing tool. I animate each shot separately in different PSDs and use a separate video-editing tool to put it together.
