[editline]16th June 2014[/editline] the orc's head looks kinda out of place, or maybe it's the armor that was left shaded unproperly (it doesn't react correctly to the light source). it's 4:20 AM here though so i'm just gonna fix these tomorrow. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] or maybe it looks good and i'm looking too much at this. anyhow nite fellas.
The head is very small, and the expression is a bit comical The eyes are very very well done, too much so for me in fact :v: they look almost like a photographic element where everything else is rough. It's quite odd

It is kinda creepy.. I don't like to look into them for too long.
Here you go mr. cake fingers, because I'm sick and don't want to do other work

[editline]16th June 2014[/editline] also i had to (obviously :p) exaggerate some of his facial traits, maybe that's why it looks comical?

another half-orc, this time he's a noble one. i worked on the facial traits a bit more so hopefully this time it doesn't look that comical.

Edit: Actual crit though the right hand side of her face (from her perspective) needs to come in a bit, I just feel like the face on that side is a bit flat. Also the center of the hair line (bit that sticks out) should be more in line with her nose. Its reminding me a lot of the guildwars 2 art.
i use the same set of brushes chestymcgee uses. i don't usually have a technique for my work, i like trying new stuff all the time. for this piece i give it a first pass with some foliage brushes then i erase everything and go over it with a harsh looking brush. kind of like this: then i loosely define the tree trunks: after i'm done doing this to the whole forest i went over it and add highlights, greens, light browns & other color variations.
u can tell brushes don't do most of the work because menter is so much better than me and he's been doing this for like half the amount of time i have lmao
Some sketchy relaxing thing i did while chatting in skype. Boring but still. i sat down and learned my shit properly 2 years ago i think. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] i had an interesting in drawing before that though, it just wasn't good because i had no technique.
Approximately the same amount of time as me. But you work as an artist, if i recall correctly, so it's pretty normal that you're better then me. Well, i guess so.
Approximately the same amount of time as me. But you work as an artist, if i recall correctly, so it's pretty normal that you're better then me. Well, i guess so.
i don't think there's such a thing as "better than someone" when it comes to this. you're already a really good illustrator. you can just sit down, do studies and perfect your technique. my point is that you really can illustrate whatever you want to as long as you have the patience to learn to do new stuff.
i started in like 2010/11 maybe i can't remember but i was always a cheater and a bad learner so that's why i'm where i'm at today ie. not as good as i could/should be

I started around 2011 too but I've honestly not been practicing a lot of things as much as I should have been. I have no real idea how to draw anything without a reference, I can't really seems to visualize anything in my head without a lot of effort. Maybe im just lazy or dumb.

If you can handle the decrease in motor skills, the right strain can make your mind's eye much clearer and easier to control I used to only be able to draw from reference and what's really helped me with drawing without a reference is using a pen and seeing where it takes me, and just by doing that a shitload I've improved a lot
Starting to try and visualize our environments for our game. We're apparently going to be getting the same kind of radiosity lighting as Battlefield, so I had fun playing with the lighting in the scene.
looks very tf2-ish. it's as if tf2 had a single-player campaign. [editline]16th June 2014[/editline] the scene looks really good too.

I just have a problem visualizing things in general I guess, it's weird, but maybe I just haven't been trying hard enough.

also there's a juggernaut on that whiteboard
I am (mostly) done with my exams it begiiiiiiiiiiiiins
here's a modern day vampire (i was thinking more 80's but whatevs): [editline]17th June 2014[/editline] it's a wip.
Seriously? How do you people draw. Drawing is so fucking frustrating to me it makes me want to scream. I can never get what I'm visualizing to look right, and I certainly can't draw from a reference. Call me whiny, but drawing is the only thing nowadays that legitimately makes me want to kill myself. Like, I want to grab the knife I keep in my desk drawer and start hacking at my arm. It's kind of scary honestly.
the thing with these things and motivation is you have to enjoy the process including the sucking and the correcting a small detail 100 times over [editline]17th June 2014[/editline] and wanting it bad enough in general i guess
