(god damnit lost my entire post thanks internet)
The punchline reads poorly, the cashier never takes up the same ammount of space as the main character until the last panel. He is never in focus and you can't recognize him in the last panel for a while, perhaps putting him, the main character and the police in the same shot would help. I think for a first try the actual joke is good and that these issues are normal starting out
Small notes:
-her guns are deringers from the side, but semiautomatics from the front, whyyy
-the belt on the lady cop is a charming touch
-the main character design is weird, this is coming from someone who also did the bandage wraps over tits thing, but honestly every visual aspect should be there for a reason, is her stomach exposed only for the purpose of showing her girl abs? Why? That doesn't mean you should be conservative when designing a character, but give some thought behind it.

There's been quite a few comments on how people actually like the placeholder blocky graphics.
What's the teams opinion on this? Has there been any consideration of keeping that style?
The blocky graphics are great and I can see them being a real hook for the steam community
but it can also turn loads of people off. fans of the indie darling scene might love it but the audience for a realistic looking game with a cool as shit 80s cult/b-movie aesthetic is way bigger
Oh well if there's a cool as shit plan involved
I was just imagining more polish
I tried drawing figures after a long hiatus. How do I do shadows?

I think you should worry more about the proportions and line work before shading.
Aight, I tried to fix the proportions a bit. Hows it look now?

Looks a lot better, but we can't really tell without a reference.
Oh ya, here it is.

Measure it up Jacklus
Alternately you could draw a square frame and treat it as the border of the photograph, that makes something like that pretty simple. Don't use that method too much though, it'll help to develop your perception of negative shapes but it's no good to rely on it
Random shit.

For some reason i'm still struggling with finding a brush I really like. I've been using this rectangular one that's kind of nice but I find that blending with it is extremely hard. I know a lot of people just use the default round brush but I hate it, I wish I could just find something that I can be comfortable with already, this is so frustrating.
I mean look at this stuff. I wish I would know how to use brushes this effectively.

Isn't the whole problem that you're trying to find one brush?
You seldom see an artist paint on a canvas with only one brush. The reason you can do so much with the round brush in digital painting is because of all the alteration the digital medium allows, making it sufficient at doing anything you want, but maybe at the cost of more time and work than if you had a brush that gave you the wanted effect from the start.
Generally what I see is that artists have 1-3 standard brushes that is used for doing almost everything, and then there is 5-1012395 brushes they use for details and specific things, like freckle brushes, dirt scratch brushes, pore brushes, etc, used only when necessary.
If you're trying to find a catch all solution then I don't think you will find one.
Also, that rock is very close to being a nose.

Yeah but when painting you do usually have one main brush, and you usually only switch brushes for size, and since digitally you change the size manually you should be able to use one brush for general purposes. I never paint with round brushes for anything other than small detail, square brushes are a lot easier to use for me. So yeah, I'm looking for a brush or two that i could use for general shading, and whenever I ask anyone what they use they give me a pack of like 100 brushes for different effects and textures. I know the problem also consists of me not really being good at rendering and shading effectively yet digitally, but I think the brush definitely adds to the problem.
Quickie video of some grass models I made and exported to Cryengine.
