Facial tattoos are still in, right guys?
Looks like something that'd be in KF2
So wanted to pimp my room up with some posters, and I felt a disturbing lack of Space posters. I was looking at the ISEE-3 reboot project and got inspired to make a poster for ISEE-3 - Really wanted to capture the feel of those old post-war posters. Although I don't really think I nailed it :( Would love some critique though. I'm generally not pleased with the bottom-left logo and how empty it feels. The two text columns also seems a bit cramped.
I think it's a bit busy, perhaps get rid of some of the smaller star speckles, and the courier new or whatever it is is too modern. The larger text is fine, the colours are fine, the explorer thing itself is nice. The logo is a tad busy as well and I don't think it should be outlined that ugly yellow ochre looking colour. Also it should leave an equal margin on the left, the horizontal alignment is alright (though I'd make it a bit smaller, visually it's poking up above NASA on the right because it's triangular) but vertically it isn't aligned to anything. Overall nice weight distribution though, the division is pleasing, looking past the issues I've mentioned I'm feeling the era too. Could do with a little bit more space up top imo. I think in essence you have nailed it, you just need to superficially fix it up a bit and you'll have a really great poster
Look what I made :3
I know people ask this a lot here, but could somebody give me some good tuts and/or references for learning human anatomy?
I know people ask this a lot here, but could somebody give me some good tuts and/or references for learning human anatomy?
Find some model(nude) pictures and draw ellipses. Do as many of them as you then, then start adding more detail line art. Then add shadows. That's what I am doing (I am at the shadow part myself)
I know people ask this a lot here, but could somebody give me some good tuts and/or references for learning human anatomy?
If you do know that, why not just read some of the thread? You're likely to find your answer plus advice about lots of other commonly raised issues/questions Figure Drawing for all it's Worth (http://www.alexhays.com/loomis/) Die Gestalt des Menschen Anatomie Artistique
I recommend this https://d1e0u2actw4eb3.cloudfront.net/edu/src/Michael%20Hampton-%20Figure%20Drawing%20-%20Design%20and%20Invention.pdf
I would argue that Hampton simplifies rather too much. He only gives very brief and superficial treatment of each area rather than giving you the anatomical knowledge you need to reach the point of what he's doing. His drawings are all you get to work from, and his drawings are more expressive-interpretive than technical. They also have anatomical errors here and there, or simply disregard anatomy for dynamism or what have you. He does beautiful work and there's valuable ideas in there, but I think it represents a personal approach. Therefore at least pair it with an anatomical text if you're gonna use it is my advice
He teaches you how to build the figure rather than observe it I guess. Diving into anatomy from the beginning would be kind of overwhelming, but he does illustrate the anatomy in certain chapters, but not as extensively as to go into detail about each muscle. I wouldn't use Loomis for anatomy either way. My anatomy teacher had some really fantastic books but i don't remember what they are.
As long as we're talking about artists to learn from, what do you guys think about Sycra? Do you personally think he's worth learning from, that what he teaches is good?
I agree with you, Lilyo. Diving into anatomy from the beginning is definitely overwhelming. A beginner needs to familiarize himself with the human figure before anything. I think a dynamic approach to drawing the body is a lot more valuable for a beginner than knowing right off the bat everything about anatomy.

looking forward to seeing the body to that. more stuff for midorea. :v:

[t]http://i.imgur.com/jPRUVGi.png[/t] I started working on the torso (I won't make legs, since I don't need them). Any advice? Please don't hurt me for using Paint.
Please don't hurt me for using Paint.
I am offended that you would even say such a thing!
I am offended that you would even say such a thing!
:v: Anyway, I'm done: [t]http://i.imgur.com/0U45MuI.png[/t] I'm not entirely sure of its torso, but I'm shitty at doing shadows.

Do you guys find it easier to be productive setting a schedule for yourself or do you just do art whenever? I keep wanting to start stuff and I get this overbearing sense of diminishing purpose when I open Photoshop and I'm just like "nah i'll just work on it tomorrow" and then I waste my time with games or films.
The only real time I seem to be able to do anything productive is if I find something I become very excited about all of a sudden. Like I just saw some screenshots from Inside Llewyn Davis which I loved the cinematography in so for a second I was like "hey I should do a photo study of these" and then just kept scrolling. Maybe I will, but probably not.

[t]http://i.gyazo.com/4a0586c08bdf06cd55fb522573287191.png[/t] Pointless little character doodle. I dunno if I should even post here though, I'm insanely outclassed :v:
Not sure if this is really critique-able, but I guess I'm slowly making progress. I've been having a lot more urges to scribble things than I have in months. [t]http://i.imgur.com/b68FVwf.jpg[/t] Reference I used was this: [t]http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mdzhz7HKDY1rlafa3o1_1280.jpg[/t] I tried to use the shadows and curves on her body as guidelines to help, but I think I ended up making her a little wide and squished.
Sketched out Baron Munchausen cause I finally found a brush I like. I think I'll put some actual effort into a colored render

[t]http://i.imgur.com/kblGT4P.png[/t] Now, using different axes is not a bad thing per se, the problem is that - following that image with a different rotation of the body - you didn't draw her left breast very well: in that image, since her body is more rotated, the breast is seen laterally, but in yours it should be seen at 3\4. Another error is her shoulder, in the picture her torso if projected towards (since she's showing her boooooobs), so her shoulders are more backward than normal. You didn't do this in your picture. Your shoulders are also shorter, and this means that the breast can't connect properly with the shoulder. Remember that the muscles of the breasts (in both male and female bodies) connect to the ones of the shoulder, reaching the cephalic vein: [t]http://health-advisors.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/posterior-shoulder-muscle-anatomy.jpg[/t] (you can easily check this by raising your left arm and touching your pectoral with your other hand) Other than that, you forgot to make her a left leg and her neck is really really meh.
If we're speaking technically the pectoral muscles reach right around to connect to the outside of the humerus around the upper anterior termination of the brachialis
