and a real hero
i'm not sure it's a good idea to learn by outlines. it's better to do full silhouettes with big charcoal or brushes or whatever and try to understand internal shapes i think. things aren't made of outlines, outlines are just a thing that we see when our brain tries to understand the way light hits objects
or something. i dunno. i'm not a physicist or a biologist and i'm not a good drawer
Completely valid point. My outline step should be disregarded and skip straight to the silhouettes. Practicing with positive and negative space will help him more. Shape and proportions are key basics.
ye gotta get to know that skellington pretty damn well too.
Get acquainted with the bones and then muscles and you can go from there srsly.
Thanks for all the feedback everyone! I'll try doing what you suggested tomorrow or the day after and see what I can do.
Another thing I noticed is that the head looks like it's squeezed horizontally and appears taller than the head of the actual person.
I also found some really cool looking drawing of a head which could serve as a good reference in the future. I really like this angular look.

Someone on this thread suggested this to me a while back so I'll just pass it on.

Does this count? painted a nerf gun. Chromed the drum, trigger and other little stuff today. Gonna make it look dirty and used some other time.
The grip looks grey in this picture but it's matte black with a minimal ammount chrome particles in it. and you can feel the matte.
I took some notes on it if you're interested:

I'd understand that there's only so much you can revise in a graphite medium but this might help for future reference. First off, the photo you're working with isn't that great to begin with (probably single flat lighting, but there are additional subtle shadows that you can look at. I'd also suggest relying less on outlines for the eyes and making the iris smaller just a little bit.
Thanks, I'll keep this in mind.

Jesus Christ that's terrifying.
imagine being in the desert and suddenly seeing a cactus stand up on two legs and begin sprinting at you
that's just beautiful

sorta concept art, sorta personal work. needed to sketch a character design but also wanted to practice anatomy so it worked out for the best
I would hazard a guess that being a measure of magnitudes larger than your standard cactus and having a horrible, gaping maw might forfeit your stealth advantage.

For an anatomy practice I have to hope you're aware that the head is probably twice the size of a normal human head, and he is also quite short. Very good colors and textures though, and were it not for the scale the anatomy is actually not bad.
I rarely ever draw anymore these days, not that I was ever any good.
Do quicky little doodles even belong in this thread?

I'm not really happy with the bottom one at all. Something seems really off.
It's even worse because it's not one full pressure hit, it's multiple, it's really horrible when it takes ages to undo the damage.
It's the pen, not the tablet. Had that a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately I can't help you fix it, I was in a position where I could just pick up another pen without bothering about the first one, but yeah I can tell you that it's definitely the stylus that's fucking up.

practice, not study. it helps to figure out what needs improvement by sketching without references, which is still a lot admittedly.

It took me a while to decide what to do with the face, so that's what I settled with.

Aha
I'd say study forearm muscles and how everything that plugs into the pelvis does so (the lower torso is looking very confused), and less specifically just go over general proportions
I don't know how long its been since i last came here but im seeing alot of rad stuff here, really nice to see
something I put on the shelf long time ago and decided to finish yesterday
