So after the LED's on my poor 4 year old tiny bamboo started failing (and the usb)) I got myself an intuos pro (medium, so I can travel to college with it)
Here are some practice things I did with it

I'm getting used to the way I set it up nicely, it's really nice just sitting back, photoshop on full screen and just painting everything on a single layer

This one is in wallpaper size, I still have to fix up the contrast and finish it properly.

ANyway, I've been messing around with flash some more, tried doing a running demo this time :v: (it's unpolished, I thought I could get opinions before I proceed)
I made it static at first to ease the sketching process:

then I made it move a little to make it feel more dynamic and possibly remove that cutoff at the end

Is there anything I should improve or just get down to polishing? Also I plan on polishing only one of them, which one is better?
I never really got into the AC franchise, but god is it fun being a pirate.

Sorry, I have no idea how to do water
I just gonna go ahead and tell you what everyone else in this thread would tell you: "Use a reference for the water"
This is true, you should do that

The whole picture is referenced, but I don't know where to start when it comes to water.

I'm fairly certain you can find hundreds of pictures of the pacific (if you wanted to just reference the ocean for that picture)
If you're talking about water in general, try starting with a picture of a cup of water. Start with a static cup, where the water's still to study how refraction works, then take/find another picture where the water's moving, preferably splashing. to see how it behaves under force.
You can then try practicing with different kinds of water, different levels of murkiness or viscousity. I can't really help you much further than that (in honesty I'm not sure if what I said is even right :v:, it just makes sense to me) maybe someone else here can.

malik?
The whole picture is referenced, but I don't know where to start when it comes to water.
Well you should probably use the reference if you're copying it from the one picture? The water presumably doesn't look quite like it does in your copy right?

The forwards/backwards motion of the last one doesn't make it more dynamic, it just makes it harder to focus on. The first one is much more realistic too, your upper body doesn't move forwards and backwards when you run. Otherwise quite good! :)
I'm inclined to question the wobbly gun myself

It sure doesn't. I spent a while trying to make it look right, but every time it came out crappy. But I suppose practice makes perfect, so that's what I'll be doing lol.

I'm not sure that's helpful advice. A glass of water is so fundamentally different to a body of water like the sea that drawing it will have almost no positive effect on your ability to draw the sea except for generic technical skill you may pick up.
I've always found water very difficult to make look right because there are so many areas of high contrast. It's like a massive thing which feels like it needs to be hyper detailed in order to actually look right, but when you put in that detail it just looks ridiculous. I expect the difficulty he is referring to is how to start drawing a reference of water, not finding references or knowing that he has to draw them.
You just gotta learn to draw what you see, and not interpret what you see.

Thanks for the advice, I made the second one because I remember seeing a post here about running animations, the user posted a sample gif where the body would move slightly forward then go back to its original position with each step, If I remember correctly he said that it makes the motion more fluid because the center of mass is moving, which is really what I was going for, but I guess I didn't do it right.

Yes I've had several remarks on it, I'll either remove the effect entirely or make it much more subtle.
Hey guys whats up, been a while!
Anyway, about a week ago I finally worked over my fear of opening commissions to go and open commissions! And then someone payed my to draw this:

I really had to step out of my comfort zone for this since I'm not too experienced with coloring, but i gave it my darndest and thats all that matters to me.

I made this for my best friend's birthday:
