Oh my god I need to start painting my army of Orks now.
Could I get some critique on this?

The angle is too simple for it to look like a real scene, you are looking straight on so the railing is 100% horizontal and the rail on the stairs is 100% coming towards us (which btw since it's off centre doesn't make sense in the laws of perspective). It's too much like a 2D platformer view, we happen to be entirely in line with the bottom of the left guys boot so that we aren't looking down on it, obscuring the rail, or up at it, obscuring the foot. The result is that it doesn't look like a 3D scene.
So pretty much the thing it needs more than anything is perspective.

Thanks, that's something I definitely need to remember. I always overlook perspective for some reason.

plan your scenes out before you paint them, with structure for the perspective and by checking references for the clothing and human anatomy. some of the rendering looks nice but the foundations really don't exist here, the poses are stiff and it looks like they're really forcing themselves to look like this for a wacky family photo or something. bonus points for the ambition though; try loose sketching and getting forms right before attempting something big and laborious.
I found the Doctor who Gallifreyan circle language thing, and figured out how to write my name:

That's cool but it seems like a really impractical way to write. Do they use hole punches or something?
It's been too long since I drew something that wasn't a bunch of effortless doodles.

I'm kinda glad how this turned out considering how much of a novice I am with this kind of stuff. Then again, this is only an apple and not something as complex as mountains or a human body.

I'd guess it would be less for practical writing and more for decoration
Hey guys I've been designing a game I'm gonna be working on for the next several years. Here's a test animation.

This looks like a very mechanical copy rather than something that you've thought about. What aspect(s) of your process, skill or knowledge were you trying to improve when you did this, exactly?

What you need before anything else is stronger basic drawing ability. A painting like this needs the full range of fundamentals to be executed well, perspective, anatomy, light, colour, compositional knowledge.. Before you even begin to study any of these you need a foundation to build the theory upon, which is your base drawing skill. Can you accurately draw something from observation, and have you done so enough that the result is pleasing to look at. If not, then everything that comes after that goes down the drain even if you DID happen to be competent in the other more complex areas. Address that first.
probably belongs in some MSP thread but did it for a friend in like 2 minutes

I guess I was attempting to improve at shading, or at least trying to see what it would look like if I tried drawing something based off of a picture.
To be honest, the main reason I drew this was because I was feeling bad for hardly doing anything related to art, though I guess the way I did wasn't the best way to start off.
I'm in a bit of a pickle here... Which one?

Also what kind of animal do you think it is? I might be way off
An owl in the second one, an angel on top of a christmas tree in the first

Thanks guys!
Ancient place beneath the earth
Call me from this place of mirth
For in harm's way I'll find myself
Until the end of time
My kith kin tell of yore of lore
Of places far beneath the floor
Of ancient mines and magics writ
In riddle and in rhyme
Gods o' light and gods o' earth
Old gods, dead gods, god of birth
Keep this wanderer's torch alight
As his courage stills his flight
The hands of creatures long dead guide me
How deep I can not tell
For strange things lurk within the twilight
O' the earthen realm and hell

Second one, no contest. Owl or eagle?
Owl, I think the head shape is what the difference is between an owl and an eagle in this silhouette. Some people said the one with the more detailed silhouette looks less like an owl than the first.

First drawing I've done for a very long time but this thread made me want to give it a shot.
Drawing from a photograph of Egoraptor, was using a HB pencil which I didn't have a sharpener for.
(he's also completely baked)

I tried to draw a 1983-86 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS. The rear wheel is small on purpose, it's depth stuff...
Still yet, what do you think of it?

Nice cloud bank and palette in the first one, though the scale of the hills and perspective are a complete question mark
Colours are fucked in the second, looks like you might have done it underexposed with weak colours to begin with and then darkened and saturated the shit out of it to salvage it? the clouds against that royal blue are nice in an abstract way, but having the sky darker than the ground makes no sense, just looks wrong. Also scale/perspective issues.

From person, it looks better. Or that's what I believe...
I don't know if colouring pencils are eraseable...
