Well fair enough :L youv got me searching for more of these kind of freakouts on youtube now
i asked tumblr what i should draw
the first answer was "sornic"

ok
I think you should try to use more contart colours in your pieces, some highlights and sharp edges on the metal would benefit for the picture too (the latter thing will also make your shapes more consistent, by the way). Also, I know that Mars is so yellow and red that it could be difficult to find cold shadows on it's surface, but hey! it's just a painting. So may be it would be cool to difersify your pallet a bit.
Kinda like this way.

Sorry if you don't like it. Totally it's not the best variant of palette, but still. May be this will help.
thank you! i'm always too conservative with colour. i think i think too realistically but also i have an issue with working on a piece for too long and not being able to see it in a fresh and daring way. need to get that out of my system

That looks like a terrible school? class? Her presentation was absolutely awful and the comments were awful. She didn't seem to have the first clue as to what she had even done, but expected that because it took her a long time and because she put a red line on it that it would be great. And the people critiquing it sounded like traditional (yet young and vindictive) esoteric art snobs trying to be professional.
I found it very hard to watch... (having to do presentations like this monthly for architecture school)

Judging by her reaction I assume this was their first time doing a class critique.
any improvements? messed around with the flow as well

can someone edit it for me please and add colours so I'd get an idea of how pros do it

And a shitty thing that I started but won't develop because I pretty much hate it

You also need to take into account illumination from bounced light; you've got a lot of surfaces that are in shadow but really close to brightly lit surfaces and there would be a heap of light bouncing into those shadows and lighting them up
I didn't notice a Creationism Corner Off-Topic so I was wondering: what are some good programs to draw in? Excluding Photoshop because I don't feel like pirating it. I hear Paint Tool Sai is good but ALSO hear that it's awful and makes drawing too easy with some filters/options so I'm not sure if touching that is a good idea.

MyPaint works really well since it's supposed to work with some painting engine to resemble real painting. One brush set has a watercolor copy that smudges slightly. The thing you'll miss is the ability to copy/paste things if need be.

Sai is pretty nice and widely available free (although thats not completely legit) a real license costs 60 bucks if I remember right, but it is basically abandonware at this point. Sai has a stabilizer to smooth your lines, but other than that I can't think how it makes drawing "too easy" as if that were a thing. It has very nice default brush settings and its easy to jump in and get started with.
Corel is really nice in finished product but an ass to get used to using, it emulates real materials very nicely. It has a steep learning curve but a few people here use it who could help you, and I'm sure there are some online tutorials for it. It isn't free either it costs quiet a bit for the full painter, essentials is probably pretty fine though. It comes with a fair number of tablets (or at least did a few years back when I got it)
Gimp is a widely used program that is actually free, its functionally very similar to photoshop. Although I haven't used it myself judging by it's popularity I would say it works pretty well.
I'm surprised you don't already have a copy of elements though, it comes with most wacom tablets except the very cheapest one.

I'll be blunt. I think you should stop working on that and paint from reference for a long while before attempting to do your own work. It looks better than when you started but not by much. Painting from reference isn't just about knowing what to paint where, it helps you learn how to render things out properly as well.
i dont know how to draw but trying 2 learn

help
shat up mate ur idiot
It's not perfect but most of your brushwork is crazy efficient, which is something I personally can't even hold a candle to. The other guys will probably have more advanced suggestions for you but really I can't say anything other than keep practicing and keep at it.
I think your greatest challenge will just be rendering skin out so that it looks like skin, which is tricky in greyscale
Perhaps take a bunch of greyscale images/desaturate some normal coloured images and study the skin

spam speckling brush call it a day
but yea im having trouble rendering good material definition in greyscale. color would be a lot easier especially when lips n shit can have the same value and only be distinguished by color, but for obvious reasons im not touching color yet
Thanks for the crits guys! If anyone else has any suggestions pls be harsh because all I want right now is to get awesome at drawing.
I think lips' values are generally darker than the skin, but with a few exceptions..
speckling brush
That'll do.
I think lips' values are generally darker than the skin, but with a few exceptions..
You'll get them the same occasionally. This one I'm shitting away on right now, the bottom of the lip is the same value as the skin, but generally you can rely on lighting variation and intuition to just imply the lips where necessary.

fuck the one on the left is a pain. i can see that it's fucked up but even flipping the canvas isn't helping. kill me

The piece is a par though, I really don't feel any potential for it really. You can have it if you want bruv :v: make something of it

I'd actually be keen to take it further! If I have time I'll deffo give it a shot
After I watched the movie Oblivion, I just had to make a simple fan-art (drawing) of it, because I found the movie very awesome. What do you think?
