I did have a few references, what do you mean by boobs don't work like that? What needs to be changed? I had a reference for that too, but putting clothes of the top of that might have ruined it

That torso is way too long
Rhenae is way too wrong
I agree, the torso is way too long, even if it was a male (afaik men have longer torso than women while women have longer legs, but the difference isn't drastic)
Noted. I'll have to do that last because I won't be able to transfer the details to the mesh with the fixed torso length
Nice. I'd say sharpen up the detail just a touch on the reflective stuff and ease of on the texture on the cloth, it's so in your face at the moment that I'm looking at it as much or more than at the objects
wtf this looks completely fucking different than it did at home, i fucking hate this screen inconsistency bullshit. Those shadows in the cloth aren't supposed to be #000000
Can you guys tell me which looks better? I'm guessing one should look very dark and saturated and one very light and bleached?

The pelvis is the midpoint of the body, so the head should really be maybe just a bit above or around where her current shoulders are. Her belly is basically gigantic. The belly button is also about halfway between the breasts and the pelvis.

Considering it is on an angle, I think the torso length is about right and arms line up with it where they should, but the legs are wayyyy too short. Currently they are about the same length as the arms
A quick cartoon satirizing a spanish satire magazine.

Yes, sooner or later I'll have to make clean lineart of it. Perhaps I'm planning to sell the final design on t-shirts and ruin that magazine's career.

Well yes, they're just as you say. The better one is a matter of opinion I suppose. The issues with the cloth are there in both, though. It's done in such bold contrasting strokes that it draws a lot of attention that it shouldn't

Here's two rough measurements you could use.
Entire length of the body is about 7 heads.
When the arms are down your elbows are at where the hips start. (try it yourself)

Did a quick paint of Luna. Trying to get the hang of digital painting still. Any advice would be appreciated. Double postin'.
if you're gonna do lines like that at least make them straight and if you're going to color stuff like that at least clean up all the parts where the color goes over the lines
the face seems a bit long but that isn't that big of a deal imo
It's not about how the face is long as much as it is about how the cheeks are too far from the eye sockets.
The end of the cheek curve should align with the nose, not the beginning of it

So my painting class is awesome and our teacher lets us work digitally in class. It's weird how different it feels than doing a painting and my laptop is a piece of shit and I have to get a real one as soon as possible.

welp, i haven't really done much drawing/art in general for awhile, and i'm looking to get back into it
when I was a kid I would just doodle things, but i kinda wanna get into the medium more seriously. should I start with drawing things from reference?
of course
well, you gotta know how to use reference as well. Volumes and proportions and shit. Not just the typical rule-of-thumb "three fingers between the eyes" proportions, I mean the spacial relationship between every element in your reference.
Draw from life not from ref. Learn to measure. Also learning angles (in term of degrees) and being able to read them by eye is very helpful. When you can draw accurately from observation, then you can start worrying about the more complicated stuff. First thing you want to attain is good base drawing ability.

Yeah I'm sure you'll make a huge impact
pinecone for class
we have to render it in ps
graphite + ps
gonna end up painting over it

HEE-NO.
Working on an album cover for my music project, heres what I currently have:-

The idea is that its a Hollywood 80's inspired album containing experimental sounds.
Suddenly have more motivation to do some actual studies (even though it's digital) unfortunately there's no shadows but I hope it's alright because this is like the 5th apple I made digitally.
It's about 40 minutes worth of work

Bear character and knight character, bottom heavy and top heavy
Sorry they're rough but they're just concept arts, I'm figuring I'll do a finished piece with them next
Critique/feedback on anything about them is appreciated

From my experience,Characters with a bigger torsos tend to have shorter legs which gives a sense of balance to the design.
You don't have to strictly follow real human body proportions if you're trying to exaggerate, you should try messing around with the proportions and length of the body more.
If you need some examples,I think Dragon's Crown is a great place to look at for exaggerated proportions.

Why is it that you only ever seem to study apples? I swear you come back every few months saying you've got motivation to study and every time you post a picture of an apple.
You know you can draw whatever you want from reference? As far as objects go, fruit is pretty damn boring, and I would argue not very useful for learning.
Apart from the basic technical skills of drawing a form and using a tablet, the number of times you will need to render fruit skin when painting something you care about are limited, and because you are drawing such a small object at such a low FOV, it doesn't require any consideration of perspective.
If you think about what you want to paint, then study stuff relevant to that, because then 6 months down the line you'll put something together that you are actually like "wow yeah I'm really happy with this" rather than "that's a great looking apple..."
I mean, if your sole art ambition is to be able to flawlessly render an apple ignore me I guess. It is a good looking apple at least.
So the underlying graphite is blocked in with color/value
I started to work on some of the individual spines.
The values are off in some areas because of the weird overlay layer accidentally merging with the multiple, it's correct without it on.

Jeez Jallen, the guy's been actually improving and you continue to just bash him. I think you're just complaining to him for the sake of it. It's a nice looking apple and I think he's ready to branch out to other studies and references. Don't be such a dick about it.
He should still consider painting something other than an apple though
