He meant tablets?
i like drawing weird occult shit at work
He meant tablets?
I know, he asked for recommendations for drawing tablets and I was backing up your suggestion to get a cheap one, since the extra expense of a high-quality tablet such as this wouldn't help an amateur out one iota. Edit- oh okay I just got it. It's been a long day, sorry. :v:
after 10 odd years I finally got back into playing with 3D graphics and this is what comes out of me now [t]http://i.imgur.com/xDGWSok.jpg[/t]
[t]http://i.imgur.com/zbhxCV3.jpg?1[/t] Krita's pretty cool. [editline]28th September 2014[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/Cwu2Fdr.png[/t] Colors yay
Sorry if this is an odd question to ask, but I'm curious: Has anyone in here painted (or know of someone who painted) a landscape or a portrait or whatever that looks like it has a normal shader applied to it? Kinda like this:

It was actually pretty easy for me to do both of those. I was just curious if there was some artwork y'all knew about or made that had that normal shader look. And yeah, that Sprite Lamp thing is pretty neat. That's actually what motivated me to paint that little normal doodle.
Anti alias or no anti alias? for line art harder to use paintbucket for things with anti alias ;c or should i not even be using that tool at all?
well if you're doing animation or something then it's good to be as efficient as possible but if you're doing illustration type stuff you could probably just fill it in manually and get nicer-looking lines
Anti alias or no anti alias? for line art harder to use paintbucket for things with anti alias ;c or should i not even be using that tool at all?
Antialias edit- ANTIALIAS
Antialias
what
what
Sorry, I'll edit my post to make it clearer
I started over on my pinecone then my dog broke the tip so I had to start over again Here's a WIP [t]http://i.imgur.com/fpNFOrB.jpg[/t]
Anti alias or no anti alias? for line art harder to use paintbucket for things with anti alias ;c or should i not even be using that tool at all?
Aliased, paint bucket then re-size to get antialiased lines is the quickest and most standard solution from what I've seen. But I think it's horrible because in the end, the original resolution has aliased edges and you can see that shit in posters. My solution has usually just been to have the line art on it's own layer and then just fill in colour underneath it. But it's time consuming. So I tried to come up with a way to use Photoshop's tools to make it a more automatic process that could be incorporated into an action. - Line art on it's own layer, antialiased - Fill in an entire layer with a random colour - CTRL click the line art layer - Select the random colour layer and press the Mask button (on the bottom in the layers window) - Invert the mask, right click it and "apply layer mask" - Use the Magic Wand tool on the random colour layer (the one you just masked) to select the background area that is not inside the line art and delete it. - CTRL click your new random colour layer, go to Select - Modify - Expand, set it to 1px. - Fill in the selection with the random colour Now you have a layer that has filled in all of the lineart, even in those small pixel wide gaps, that you can chop up into pieces (it's already divided as the lineart itself is not filled in) or use as is. well that sure sounds like a huge fucking hassle
I started over on my pinecone then my dog broke the tip so I had to start over again Here's a WIP [t]http://i.imgur.com/fpNFOrB.jpg[/t]
A chocolate pinecone, that's brilliant
A chocolate pinecone, that's brilliant
I'd try it.

It should be feasable to incorporate it into a single action, maybe two, not sure how the magic wand will work out, meaning you could have it done automatically with the press of a hotkey. Also it seems like more work than it is. You might actually save time because you don't have to fill all the gaps, and you are sure to not miss any spot.
I tried Drawing EVA-Unit 00 from Neon Genesis Evangelion.

there really isn't a artist question thread or anything but how can you make a living off of art(besides more practical arts such as designing stuff or making pottery) if it isn't graphic design or making animations(and even then, how do you even make a living then, it seems few and far between that artists make a break at all, for those that attempt, there is only a small list comparatively) is it even realistic to expect a living wage

(and yes you can expect a living wage, and a lot more when you are well known)

If that's the case you'd be looking at either concept art or just being a fine artist. In either case you'd need to be at a high level with an ace portfolio/gallery so that you're sought after to begin with. However trying to make a living wage while you're still studying and you're not brilliant yet is pretty unrealistic. Unless in the case of fine art you succeed as a hack because silly people "discover" you thinking your mediocre stuff is the bee's knees (like that zelchacha guy) but obviously counting on that is very foolish
