well uh... there's not exactly much to base her proportions on.

Try blending in this highlights to diffuse them down a bit. Other than that cool study.

You're confusing some hue and saturation changes in the skin with value changes. It might help for you to just do grayscale studies at first to get better at seeing the values. If you squint your eyes it helps see them better.

Not entirely done, but I don't know if I'm going to completely finish it. In tests I just can't get depth of field to look right behind BB. And drawing that background from reference, with the reference being blurred from DoF is a bitch. Not to mention his pouches seem pretty small to me.
His facial anatomy could use work. His nose is half the height of his face
Picture I made for class. Assignment was to make a 'look and feel' piece for if we were making concept art for a catwoman game.

The perspective on the background looks a little off - epecially the levels on the left, they seem angled too steeply.

I finished!!!
I really dig them colors man
I'm response to the head crab drawing:
Get rid of that lightest tone on the top of it and that may look better. It seems your adding in a highlight that isn't really there.
I'm no expert (hell I spent my evening drawing really bad heads, I can't even shade) but I can totally understand what Lilyo was explaining.
I need some help...
I normally really enjoy doing studies or paintings or anything, but for the past while my self-esteem and confidence in my work has gone downhill to the point that I feel like I'm just constantly spitting out crap. Along with school and family and life in general, I'm having a tough time finding the joy in my artwork and that sucks because it was one of my major stress relievers.
I want to get better and have a good time doing it, but I feel like I'm headed nowhere.

Can you measure properly?
Can you draw well?
I don't even want to be an ~artist~ anymore I don't want to end up being an asshole like you guys
Seriously fuck all of you I decide to come back for actual help and I get this shit
lmao classic daniel smith
those were "actual help" questions you know, you started painting without become good at drawing (as far as I can tell) and you probably can't observe and draw things in an academic way, which would be the main reason why what you call your "eye for art" isn't stellar and you can't reproduce what you're seeing accurately for studies

But by all means have a tantrum and leave again
See you next month

Man, I've had far worse feedback on earlier stuff I actually made on here and not from just asking for advice and I haven't said "fuck you all" and abandoned ship. They gave you some good advice that may haven't been given to you on a platter of nice but usually feedback and criticisms aren't. You need to get some thicker skin.
I keep looking at stuff like Corel Painter 15 and the cool promotional art. I keep wanting to get it until I realize the program won't magically make me a super artist.
@DS,
I have been working on ticket support for a while in my company. in many ways it is similar to taking criticism in art. Sometimes, they do find a critical bug, and i gotta dig roght in to fix it; some other times, it is not a bug... and i just close the ticket.
You know yourself the best at the end, and it is your art. The first step for you is to get used to learning before you start learning.
Looking at Daniel, I now understand how stupid I've looked in the past on these forums. Goddamn.
He's literally ignored our advice time and time again, I would feel bad for him but he's basically asked for this sort of treatment at this point.
'Work on your fundamentals' and he maybe does one or two studies before just diving back into the deep end and expecting us to be able to help him. Sure we could nitpick some specific things without trying to hurt his feelings but we've already given him the real advice he needs, many, many times over.

daniel, if you wanted to do studies, paint from life, it's the best way to learn.
photos fuck up colors and values.
did a study of a branch... color temp is a bit on the warm side, but I guess the white of the background cools it off
