gorgeous colors and composition
This is a work in progress I'm doing with my girlfriend for her university: It's a video [sp]Missing scenes are a dress up scene where he ends up taking a self pic, right after the breakfast scene, a scene where he encounters someone on the street but is too consumed by trying to take a picture of something to even take notice of the other person and a screencapture of the picture he has taking on instagram.[/sp] [sp]The idea is for it to be a lighthearted criticism of instagram and social media in general, that makes the viewer think about how they use instagram or other social media in general.[/sp] Since I'm in no way an experienced moviemaker, any feedback so far?
The scenes dragged on for too long, especially the breakfast scene in the beginning, I actually skipped through that part because it took too long. Also, I don't know if there would be any way to get this, but lowering the background noise and adding in some quiet music would help a bit. If possible, you could bump up the saturation too to make it look more professional.
Timelapse video of this coming soon

I didn't think the breakfast scene suffered from it though. Do you think the shots themselves linger for too long or are there too many of them? As for the background sound and music, I hadn't gotten to leveling the background sound and adding music yet, but I definitely will. Though I'm scared of the music being too dominant. I'll definitely try bumping up the saturation and maybe the contrast and see what it gives. Thanks a lot for the input.

Nothing. It's just me getting worse day by day.

If you feel as though you're declining though, you should try to relax, allow yourself to take time time off, and come back to it relaxed. All the improvement I made over the christmas break came from the more casual, not-working-to-a-stressful-deadline system that I had [editline]8th May 2013[/editline] i.e., paint whenever and don't give a care

[editline]8th May 2013[/editline]
You've definitely changed my opinion on the matter. I suppose I just was worried too much about somehow poisoning my skill as an artist (of which I don't really consider myself, as all I do is doodle), but that's a rather silly frame of mind for me to have. The good news is that I can draw dicks in the program just fine Penis This was done as a joke/test
Do take dgg's righteous advice with a grain of salt, he can't actually draw. :v:
Do you measure your stuff?
How do I do this? Did you mean compare?
Nah I mean measure proportionally, using your eye and your pencil (or dowel or similar sighting tool)
Nah I mean measure proportionally, using your eye and your pencil (or dowel or similar sighting tool)
Ah, that. Sure I do. I have a steel stick specifically for measuring stuff. It helps me alot in drawing figures and statues. Or a steel dowel, I am not sure.. Why did you ask that, btw?
Do take dgg's righteous advice with a grain of salt, he can't actually draw. :v:
Doesn't change the facts. Art is re-iteration and there is no such thing as cheating in art. People do like to think that are right and wrong ways to do art which in most cases stem from a habit, tradition or preference. Many people find digital art to be cheating in and by itself because you can undo, use layers, gradients and whatnot. The only reason they think so is because they can't do it with traditional so in their eyes true art can only be made with pen and paper, because it requires more labor and effort put into things that doesn't really matter. Art is whatever you make it be, the only way you can do art wrong is by not realizing your goal/vision in your end product. When we critique that the anatomy is wrong, the composition is off and all that it is 9/10 times because it is clear to see that the person had a vision in their mind of how it would look, but then didn't quite make it, and those things are part of the things that need to be changed in order to realize the vision.
A quickie (or quicky?)

I really enjoyed making this. Edit: This should fix the clouds
Some super blatant repetition on your clouds, there. Otherwise it's really nice.
This is a self portrait
Holy fucking shit resize that please.
Some super blatant repetition on your clouds, there. Otherwise it's really nice.
Yeah I noticed that immediately after I uploaded it... Oh well. I think I'm gonna resize it.
