I don't even want to be an ~artist~ anymore I don't want to end up being an asshole like you guys Seriously fuck all of you I decide to come back for actual help and I get this shit
People gave you valuable input how can you possibly respond like this
I finished!!!
i think pushing your values would really take your work to the next level. if you put this image into greyscale you'll notice that outside of the beautiful rendering on the face the tonal variation is very minimal. the light source (being the horse explosion) is almost irrelevant and non existent, and it really doesn't feel like the focal point of the composition
Yeah the overhead light is much more overpowering which doesn't make much sense unless its pointed directly at her somehow since the foreground is all much darker and not receiving any of the light she is for some reason.
Black and white study next then, haha.
I need some help... I normally really enjoy doing studies or paintings or anything, but for the past while my self-esteem and confidence in my work has gone downhill to the point that I feel like I'm just constantly spitting out crap. Along with school and family and life in general, I'm having a tough time finding the joy in my artwork and that sucks because it was one of my major stress relievers. I want to get better and have a good time doing it, but I feel like I'm headed nowhere.
During high school I used art as a fun hobby too, and a sort of catharsis. Of course when college came and I became a bit disillusioned about life, my art went down with me too. I'm not at that point anymore though, and I think the only reason I've been able to keep up with a creative lifestyle is because I've made art (or at least illustration/design) a responsibility. As in I've been able to work even when I didn't want to paint, or that I understand my projects deserve to exist more than my self-doubt; it's a learned skill of course, and one that is usually attached to obligations earned from clients and peers. I know it's unfair for a freelancer to give advice to someone who hasn't immersed themselves in that world yet, but I thought you should know that art (and your art) can deserve to exist more than for the sake of making you happy. Last thoughts: I've come across a lot of rising artists that never made it through the Summer Slump, people who promised to work and improve themselves over the 3 months and gave up (me having been one of them). Its simply because they didn't have an obligation to tie themselves to their work. I know one post on an online forum isn't going to make you create a personal creative universe you can build on or make you delve into the many disciplines of art, but I do hope you find your way. So... yeah.
A Raven Mocker done for Sketch_dailies. It can totally fly somehow

Holy shit that's what I was seeing. I knew there was something about that face haha
Coloured an old pic from WW2. Anyone have any tips on using overlays? I'm using official German RLM swatches but adjusting the colours to match the lighting just wont work out for me.

It's the most common mistake people make when coloring.
Alright thanks for the tip Lexus. The photo seems to be taken around 44 or 45. The aircraft is indeed a 109 probably a late Gustav variant judging by the canopy and bulges on the "hood". I had it laying around in a reference folder, no exact info sorry :) [editline]16th October 2014[/editline] My guess is that it's part of the Reichsdefense plan against the Allied bombers campaign. The only thing I can make out from that pic is a vertical bar behind the canopy on the fuselage. Which indicates it's an aircraft of the third group from somesort of squadron. If I had more views of this bird I could even give you the pilots name. [editline]16th October 2014[/editline] Okay sorry for the wall of text but I asked some of my sources and I think we got it.. The plane is part of the famous "Jagdgeschwader 53". During the Battle of Britain they wore red bands around their yellow noses because the Geschwader leader was married to a jew. Goerings idea ofcourse. The exact model is a G14, based in Nellingen Germany around januari 1945. The group would remain active till the last days of the war and is listed as one of the top performing groups of the Luftwaffe. Having fought in France, Eastern front, Africa, Italy, France again, Holland and finally at their final breath in Germany.

I really dig your style, but it's a little off-model. Bigby's head is a lot more square (albeit with a rounded jaw) while you've drawn it more elongated. He also has broad shoulders and a shorter neck. [t]http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/original/14/149570/3379446-2558224-2558223-big-bad-wolf.png[/t][t]http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com/images/extra/GAMES2/large/twau2t/twau2tscr_001-large.jpg[/t][t]http://static.strategyinformer.com/r/article_images/original/3772.jpg[/t] I'd also suggest taking a quick look at necktie knots - you've drawn sort of a collection of squares that don't really look like a knot. Generally the main knot in the center should be the largest (shaped like a trapezoid).

This is pretty awesome as it is, though!
I decided to give digital painting a try. It's something I've only really tried once, two years ago, and was a little scared to try since. [t]http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/289/1/8/tim_curry_as_frank_n__furter_by_jacen_c-d832hgg.jpg[/t] Here's the reference I used It's much more enjoyable than I remember, though the last one being in color probably didn't help. I kind of got lost when it came to the hair so I just decided to stop it here and do some hair studies later.
[t]http://puu.sh/cfe79/f41795b846.png[/t] How is this style even called?! I just wanted to draw kirby.
[t]http://puu.sh/cfe79/f41795b846.png[/t] How is this style even called?! I just wanted to draw kirby.
vector?
Minimalistic. At least that's what I see people call it. Personally, I think all these minimalistic wallpapers look bad
It's vector by technique at least, hopefully. Something can be vector and minimalist, and I don't know if I agree it's minimalist, because that would probably mean leaving out the majority of features excepting the most crucial.
I was just really reminded of something like this set http://imgur.com/a/sETtp It's somewhat popular on Reddit. Source: my sister who complains about how they're everywhere when she's wallpaper hunting
You should change it tbh, it looks cool and creepy in the body but that expression ruins it :v
I would but it was for Sketch dailies so I'm done with it at this point. Maybe once I finish the five other things I'm working on haha What do you guys think of the pose on this old knight? The knight is a WIP, I still have to do all the lighting, shadows, details, etc. and balance the background against his armor to make him stand out more. But this pose is very close to what I want, I think this is what I'm sticking with. [IMG_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/dHYXgEO.jpg[/IMG_thumb]

Ah fair enough Knight looks a bit out of proportion. The actual pose would be fine if he had something to support his back (it's unclear whether or not you intended him to be leaning on the tree behind him, it looks like he should be, otherwise holding that pose would be strenuous with armour on)
Here's Henrie! Crit appreciated as always Also, just for grins, here's how the character has developed since I first drew him

At one point I was considering making this a Dark Souls fanart thing
Ah fair enough Knight looks a bit out of proportion. On top of adding shadows that should make him lean against the tree. The only proportion problem I'm seeing is the thickness of the legs and the chest. But armor is weird, maybe I missed something?

Turns out this took 30 seconds but it's fixed now
