i like how the gradient on the background and his coat eventually lead the viewer's eyes to his head. cool composition going on even on something simple as that.
Have some uglies
Do you do the lineart first and then shade? I really like how you shade the drawings.
Sorry for the late reply, yes I do the lineart first.
I think someone else here wanted a camtasia capture, can't promise anything, I may do it.

That'd make a nice avatar.

Yeah, I really like it here. Watching everyone giving feedback and growing as artists really is inspiring.

I drew this 50cc Honda Monkey. Just so people don't wonder, I don't ever use a ruler because I enjoy that "messy" style I have.

No traditional artist ever uses a ruler

Though that doesn't mean you shouldn't. Any artist should feel free to use every tool at his/her disposal.

I went for a more messy and antialiased style for this one.
I have this bad habit of following systems and patterns as i make my pixel-art.

Yeah. I usually draw technical things like vehicles so people tell me to use one. I can't draw organic things worth shit.

What do you mean? there is nothing antialiased in this image.
Did you mean you went for an aliased style?

I did manual antialiasing to avoid to many sharp lines. Look at the skulls heads for example.
No traditional artist ever uses a ruler
just to clarify, this post is (or at least I hope JFC recognises that it is) sarcastic
Traditional artists have been using rulers, masking tape, etc, for ages and ages
Just in case there are any beginners out there who misinterpreted that post
I did manual antialiasing to avoid to many sharp lines. Look at the skulls heads for example.
Thats not really how it works. Antialiasing is a process where you smooth out hard edges between/next to pixels.
I think he means that he's using a tone in between the white of the skulls and the black of the background to create a slightly smoother transition rather than just the stark contrast that he might otherwise have
So technically it's anti aliasing but really in this specific situation it just looks like the further edges of the skulls are being hit with less light

Yeah exactly, isn't that what i did?
I meant the flying skulls for clarification.
I did not mean the skulls on the ground, that's simple shading.
Oh, I was talking about the skulls on the ground. I think the outer edges of the flying skulls are too dark to really have an effect; try scaling it down to 1:1 and seeing whether or not it feels antialiased
Your images would come across 100 times better if you simply lightened the background so that we could see the actual creature
They're supposed to be creature designs right? That is, you're not trying to show them in a scene or an environment but rather just express the pure design of the creature?
Amazing idea/design that last one sprock
And I agree completely with maloof, your bg and subject values are so low contrast that it's a bit frustrating to look at them, they almost get lost

Here, added some very quick lighting, just so that your lovely brushwork actually comes through in a tangible way

I tried screen printing for the first time today, it went terribly :v: But definitely a learning experience! Hopefully I will have some more successful prints to post soon <3

Agree, I was just encouraging him by saying that majority of pieces he sees are hand drawn. It's really easy to to really long and straight lines with some practice.
