Anybody know of anyone with some really good tutorials on youtube? (Or in general really...) I'm sick of sifting through all the animu.
uugh can't do fur = can't do fox :(
Ugh, haven't worked on my story in AGES... At least I've made a redesign of my main character's costume so it's not a carbon copy of someone elses, though I'm not sure what copyright catastrophy awaits for having a caped crusader with a lot of Superman's powers...

Okay well this is obviously unfinished I want C&C, not only on the technique but also on the design. I want to show an Aborigine guide leading two Australian/British dudes. Also, Emus only grow to about half that size, I scaled them up intentionally. They're also not strong enough for sustained riding. How should I communicate that this is sort of a storybook scene, and not some real depiction of what Australia was? I put some ruins in the background to help that idea along but I definitely need more
You could make the rocks wonkier, push the color saturation, that would probably help it look more surreal. Also I would recommend not painting with such low flow/opacity, it makes your image blurry and faded looking.
Looks like he is tripping over some IDE cords.
ide has 40 pins and everyone should know it! Meet the ide\4.
Okay well this is obviously unfinished
Honestly, I like your compositions and ideas, but you really should pay more attention to the technical side, because it just ruins your drawings. Make some colour and texture studies instead of painting another full-scale picture, draw a bit more portraits, and try to don't make them look like a meme illustrations. That would push you forward greatly.
that fox made me make one of my own also who doesnt love super warm lamp lighting

It kind of looks like he's about to dance. Other than that, I really like the mechanical features on this one, it's nicely rendered too. [editline]9th April 2013[/editline] oh, I didn't get the tripping vibe from that. oh well. Try to build your drawings from the inside out.

written a little thing about getting into freelance illustration/concept-art. it's a bit of a personal regurgitation of knowledge but it's fairly short and might be a handy introduction for some people http://seanbarronbagd2.blogspot.co.uk/2013/04/dd2000-future-in-industry-1.html

Also, your correction in general looks less human and has taken all the expression and character out of what he/she already had.
1: Theres nothing wrong with drawing hair in strands
unless you're doing a really boring 100% realism super hi-res portrait, there really is a problem with this

[editline]9th April 2013[/editline]
unless you're doing a really boring 100% realism super hi-res portrait, there really is a problem with this
nnaah, super realism isnt boring. Imo the stranded hair looked better than the "planes" of hair, the strands had a lot more texture.
There are more things wrong with your correction than there are with Dubhos original post. 1: Theres nothing wrong with drawing hair in strands 2:Theres no reason to make the face blocky and square like you have, the shape of the face he drew actually looks rather nice 3:Why are you telling him how to correct hair when you wrote yourself "I cant draw hair yet please forgive me"? Also, your correction in general looks less human and has taken all the expression and character out of what he/she already had.
1: What I mean by "Do not draw in strands" is basically don't draw long lines down the entire hair surface to represent hair. Drawing hair in planes makes for an easier approach when shading. Also estheticly it looks better, imo. You might want to read this. http://gurneyjourney.blogspot.no/2008/04/hair-string-mop.html 2: It's just a method for making your drawings look more 3-dimensional, and a simplification which might make addding light to the object more easy. The original drawing was looking rather flat I think, by deviding it up in simple planes I think I managed to give it some more depth. Thinking in planes has certainly helped me over the last weeks, don't know if this applies to others. I don't mean to make this an ultimatum, in which you have to draw this way. There are tons of methods on how to construct the head, or you could just paint without thinking that much about it. I just think, in the long run, it pays off to think in planes, especially when you're a beginner. 3: Even though I don't know how to do something doesn't mean I don't have knowledge about it. Kind of like movie critics don't always know how to make awesome movies, still they know what should make a good story and what looks good and not.
This is Jawky. [t]http://th04.deviantart.net/fs71/PRE/i/2013/099/e/7/jawky_by_lieutenantawesome-d610f72.png[/t] Please do not be intimidated by his appearance, he really is a pretty charming guy! Dont bring any Jawbreakers near him though.
