There are good ways to construct heads; using blocky planes is a good one!
But I agree with Cake Fingers that your paintover is quite innacurate - it doesn't block out the face in a way that supports or simplifies the underlying anatomy at all. It looks wrong. A blocked out face should still look convincingly like a face.
I'd get Loomis' book 'Drawing the Head and Hands' (or similarly titled) and check out the way he blocks out faces. There's no way you can simplify the jaw and chin with the forms you've used to simplify them
uhh.... I spesifically used loomis's way of blocking out heads...

hmm... If I was that off I'd better go study some more!

sorry for doing a blind leading thing.
Think i'm going to go through loomis one more time
The hatching is pretty fucked tbh, it's sloppy and clashes directionally with itself a lot and does a poor job describing the forms

I was trying to go for something like this, guess i overdid it

You just didn't leave enough highlight space that doesn't have any hatches. You hatched everything.
I couldn't come up with a walker design for my interactive, so I doodled a bit
the size is too hugebig because I had no idea what I was going for

Picked the two armed one, put it into a sloppy scene just so I could try and decide a scale (too sloppy to post)
I'm terribly unsatisfied with the rendering, but kind of like the design. I might change the area below the cockpit though, it's a huge shot trap (then again walking tanks in general are riddled with them)
Different scale image:

Any room for minimalistic posters of my own films?
Poster for a band nobody knows that I did a music video and EPK for.

Poster for a mockumentary comedy that has nothing to do with Coffee, Cream or Nicotine.

The spin-off/sequel to that mockumentary.

And one for a lame dairy milk advert I made in college.

first one is ok. I think that if the lines had different weights it would make it more interesting. Also the text fonts could be better. Second one is ok too, the title could be a bit lower and bigger though. And that cigarette looks like you just live traced it and pasted it there, since the mug and foam dont have the same simplicity as the cigarette. The 3rd one is just plain boring to me. You could have chosen a better font and I dont know what else because Im not aware of what the mockumentary is about. Last one is also bland, looks like you just pasted a picture and added text without thinking about positioning. Font is also bad, not suited to be written in all caps

i based it on

a WIP, certain bits are layered and reversible, I'd really appreciate some tips on how to continue the rendering

i like the demonic t-rex, the devilish teddy bear and the satanic duck
by the way, i have a tumblr for my art now, so please follow me! i'll try to update it almost daily.

Not worthy
I made up a handwritten script for my made up space language

Maybe it's because English is my first language but I think that looks tough to write on paper with all those machinelike angles and little lines.
Probably. I'm assuming a handwritten form would be a little swooshier.
The characters in question have claws, so I was thinking it's derived from scratched glyphs on tree-trunks and stuff--very compressed horizontally, but lots of movement up or down comparatively.

perhaps the species then uses pens that are the length of their index finger and are held under it, used in a scratching motion? c:
can you rap it

I feel like archaeologists would hate that
How come Ptolemy doesn't translate to Ptolemy?

how come?

Cause the pheremones would degrade over time, making it harder (or impossible) to understand if you dig it up a thousand years later :v
Also yes! There's some now

They don't really have lips, so they can't pronounce labial sounds like P and M (or O). I imagine the ones that are raised speaking English or other languages are able to simulate those sounds (since parrots are able to) but I figured their native language would avoid them.

True haha
I could see it adding to the depth of the narrative though; the archaeologists discovering slight differences in the chemical composition of the 'ink' and adding another layer to their understanding
just a thought!

Haha yeah, don't get me wrong, I love the idea! I was just imagining the problems that could cause down the line.
There's gonna be a lot of different aliens with their own languages--I'm definitely not going to try and develop them all to this degree, but I'll definitely keep the pheremones thing in mind :)
