The linework is great but holy batman tits that's excruciating to imagine doing. [t]http://puu.sh/3mZXU.jpg[/t]
lol just noticed it. that guy got a flexible arm :3 Will tell my friend to be careful on this detail An other one [editline]24th June 2013[/editline] I like this one too. What do you think?
Your linwork is fantastic and you seem to have a grasp on anatomy but the eastern art style, in my opinion, detracts from it more than anything else.

We try to work on our own style. the images shown are drew by my friend. they're concept art practice. My job is mostly to finish them on computer. I bought manga studio a few weeks ago. it is working pretty well though. All the work ive done is made on Paint.net as for now. I will start working on Manga Studio soon.
I wish there was gradient paper IRL.
Light watercolor washes work well I suppose.
I think you're gonna be holding your friend back in his/her aspirations tbh. I think they're far from being at manga production stage but nevertheless. [editline]24th June 2013[/editline] @ pac0 [editline]24th June 2013[/editline] Also just finished painting up the typeface I designed a while ago Some more letters, thumbing for size.. I swear my phone never used to take photos this big, they aren't even nice quality what's the point http://i.imgur.com/3YMJgA3.jpg And bonus I guess, the drawings from earlier with my hand for size reference- http://i.imgur.com/6vFACVd.jpg not very exciting at all now that I think about it
@Mako the "G" and "C" don't fit with the rest, as well as your "S", in my opinion.
Didn't expect crit on these :v: Uhh, you could be a bit clearer, all of the letters there are from different form groupings so it looks like you've just circled random unrelated elements? Also note the K looks weirder at that angle than it actually is Probably worth mentioning it's more or less a display typeface too
from different form groupings
You should have mentioned that :(
Halp you learn from mistakes, and there's probably alot of them. halp
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Arc1-gSRbpU (Listen whilst reading for best immersion) Something I made in 10 minutes, I tried to make it as long as the clip so read it slowly. :downs: A Winter Memory Dark clouds. Blue lightning. White snow. Claire runs from her home. It's rundown, infiltrated by beasts. No backpack on her back. No warm jacket. No gloves. She is ill equipped to be outside. She does not stop running. The world will end if I stop running. Frostbite eats the nerve out of her legs. The thick forest of dead trees will be her resting place. She knows this, but must try to survive. In the snow she lay. The world is passing by as the snow is falling. She has stopped, the world hasn't ended. Claire looks to the sky and watches the blue lightning. It twist and turns unnaturally. Making the world around her vanish. The dead and erect trees. The little patches of green grass. The grey powder of snow. Gone... If she closes her eyes, she hopes Mother will wake her and tell her it is all a bad dream. The snow is starting to cover her body. Is the world going to end? No. On her feet, she stands. Marching past the pines, she tries. The ash is turning black and the sun is setting. This is not a dream. Mother is dead, Father too. Dreams are happy. This is a nightmare! Finally, she gives up. The world will end and she will become a frozen statue, laid in the ground to rest. Looking up to the sky again, the world stops moving. The blue streak of lightning ceases to move. The white and black snow stops mid-motion. The clouds are not moving. Time has stopped. The clock has ticked its last tock. It is a slow death, but hardly sensual. The cold has killed her senses, she only waits for her eyes to close. Second by second, she loses control of her body. Giving in to the cold seems almost welcoming. There's no bright light to greet her. There's no warmth to say goodbye to. Only a cool chill to whisper a farewell. Now the world is dark and she smiles, her eyes close slowly and she takes a deep breathe... Claire wakes up with a gasp in a bed. A wooden cabin... Someone saved her.

They're also slanting to its left which unbalances the picture, I guess.
I'd love some feedback. I've been trying to shade this but I'm not sure if the shading is done right. Keep in mind, it's not finished. I just want to know if I'm doing okay so far. [t]http://puu.sh/3nfmM.png[/t]

How the fuck do you do these tiny details??
his pencil lays down carbon nanoparticles instead of graphite

I demand a full size hd scan of that godly work.
I demand a full size hd scan of that godly work.
No, then you would see how shitty my drawings really are!
Just another 10 min landscape\atmosphere. Not much time to draw this year...
I really like those kinds of digital paintings of environments (like this, this, and this) I'm still relatively new to drawing (though not completely new e.g. hand, knife) Ultimately I want to do environments like in those concept art pictures. Should I keep drawing in pencil for now or start trying digital stuff?
Hi all, I'm new to this section. I'd like to explore digital painting as a hobby, but I'm not sure where to start. I've never painted before and (outside of small doodles done years ago) I've never drawn. Just yesterday I got out a cheap tablet that I bought a long time ago and decided to dive in and try painting something in Photoshop. I'm hoping you guys can give me some CC and point me in the right direction. These are both based off images I found online. In paiting the first one I limited myself to 30 minutes. The second painting was worked on in my free time over yesterday and today. [thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Spring.png[/thumb] [thumb]http://filesmelt.com/dl/Winter2.png[/thumb] I know that the perspective and lighting in these pictures are shit. :v: What's the best way to practice the basics? Via pencil and paper, or straight to Photoshop? Also, what the hell are the basics? Again, I'm new to this, so any help would be really appreciated.

(except for the piss river) For perspective, you can start with understanding what "Vanishing Point" is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vanishing_point From there, make sure that you've got a firm grip of it, move onto 2 VPs, and then 3 (some extreme perspective arts like tall buildings over vast landscapes). And here is the 1st episode of Digital Painting 101: (Make sure to watch all 5 episodes!) I'm sure that you'll find them more useful to you more than to me since I don't have a tablet.
I wholeheartedly think starting off with traditional media is a good idea. It's a lot more natural. But that's just what I'm used to If you're already accustomed to using a graphics tablet, go ahead with that.

Every great artist I know is skilled in more than one medium. Pencils, digital, oil, etc.

Digital painting is more about shapes, colors, and materials. To make it simple, do both 1 or 2 hours a day and keep practising. You have the gift ! now have fun with it !
