i doodled a fox
hmmm i think i know who you got inspired from, i may be wrong but wasn't it that color test fox some dude made and posted on tumblr? anyhow, it looks neat. i love how you put the focus on the face.
Actually I got inspired by the fox that resides in our garden, never go on tumblr actually But thank you! c:
That's wonderful. Care to show us your face and pose construction methods? I try to absorb as many info from everyone as I can.
Thanks. Sorry about the late reply. My process is pretty simple, I don't use a whole lot of guidelines or refs, I mainly rely on memory when it comes to anatomy and posing. For the head and face I usually start with a blocky shape and kinda sculpt it out until it sorta "feels right". I usually keep the parts of the body that will be covered as very simple lineart, here's a Scotsman I whipped up to give you an example. http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5500/q0gs.png
work in progress i think some adventurers got lost
Always a good idea to regularly put down a pure white stroke and a pure black stroke over your painting to check your values (then ctrl Z them away of course). Your painting right now is way too underexposed to see anything

A zoomed out, poor quality screenshot of what I'm currently working on in Photoshop. A lot let to do, obviously haha. Are you ready for the Alpaca-lypse?
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/2TaRq8g.png[/img_thumb] progress
Nice, also kudos for trying obviously difficult subjects in low lighting

Drew Ragnar Lothbrok from the series Vikings (recommended). ~2 hours. Had considerable trouble making the right eye look correct, I guess because it's so obvious if it is even minutely off. Still don't think it's quite right. Mostly draw small objects so completely new to faces.

Lovin' the colors and the general look of it but it could be more detailed, not really sure what i'm looking at.
Installed Photoshop to finish off some stuff so I don't fail my college course, tested out drawing with a mouse in about 30 mins. The more I look the less happy I am. [editline]29th June 2013[/editline] Wow exporting and uploading those really sapped what little life was in them ;_;

Also, if you want a black and white version dont just switch around a few settings or apply a filter, only way to do it is to redraw it.
I disagree, I think if you're saving for web (esp at larger sizes) it's best to go for JPEG. Just bump it up to quality 10 and as long as you're not pushing it through a hosting site that converts it AGAIN (like Deviantart's optional resizing feature) it'll look fine

Surely? Also, no matter the quality of the JPEG you always loose far more quality than if you use PNG. This is what I've been taught at least?

Also I made the black and white one first and used filters to make the colour one :V But I know what you're getting at, but I like to play with filter settings and see what comes out. It looked better before I added what have become in my mind "worms" to the image. But, it was an exercise in making a smaller image all on one layer and not getting too anal about small details, and continuing and working with my mistakes when I made them.
But, if your saving for web use you want a PNG - Portable Network Graphic? Surely? Also, no matter the quality of the JPEG you always loose far more quality than if you use PNG. This is what I've been taught at least?
PNG is lossless. An image saved as png will be pixel perfect, however its compression is only effective on blocks of solid identical colour. This makes it excellent for web graphics (like buttons and icons) but almost as large as completely uncompressed image data for pictures that don't have many blocks of identical colour. JPG is lossy, it will make parts of the image look mottled and noisy depending on the amount of compression being used. This is especially noticeable on solid boundaries between different colours. This is why jpg is used for photos usually (few high contrast hard edges, few blocks of identical colour) and png is used for things like repeating backgrounds and images with sharp high contrast edges such as text (because it's more effective at compressing the former and avoids the shitty effect of jpg on the latter). For a painting I would recommend either a very high quality jpg or png. Experiment with file size / appearance.

The woman on the right instantly reminded me of chell from portal 2 for some reason. I really don't know why.
