I said SOMEONE. Not, "all black people." All it takes is one idiot with a little bit more power or political sway to do something like that.
Wha To do what? Shout "that's racist"?
Notice what I was quoting though? Like I said earlier, it was sarcasm. It doesn't ACTUALLY make you racist, but that's the way a lot of people view it.
I think he was referring to the part where you said "you can't bring up chicken around a black person" Unless you were being sarcastic there too and actually meant that black people love to discuss chicken with you
I have multiple black friends and they're ALL cool with it. In fact, they think the whole 'not being allowed to call it a blackboard' thing is a bunch of shit, too. But obviously someone somewhere is offended by it (or they just love to cause an annoyance) otherwise we wouldn't have that problem.
I know, most of my friends are okay with it as well, but sometimes I'll make some kinda irrelevant joke to racism, and I'll just notice some black guy jump up and say "Thats racist". Like I was saying to this one guy "Hey you look like XXX person" And he looks almost exactly like him and they happen to both be black, then he says "Dude, what?" and I was like "I'm not trying to be racist, I'm just saying you guys both have the same build and facial complexion, I'm not comparing by skin color." Then he went off in rage and I finally got him to calm down in the end. All in all, it's apparent, but not really all that frequent. EDIT: The "chicken" thing was just an example, there may be another situation like that that has nothing to do with chicken.
Wha To do what? Shout "that's racist"?
Yeah. Why would such changes be made had someone NOT done that? Did someone wake up one day and think, "You know, I think 'rainbow sheep' sounds a lot better than 'black sheep' despite the fact that black sheep actually exist and rainbow ones don't."
Notice what I was quoting though? Like I said earlier, it was sarcasm. It doesn't ACTUALLY make you racist, but that's the way a lot of people view it.
so what the fuck are you talking about you're going around saying sarcasm this sarcasm that
Yeah. Why would such changes be made had someone NOT done that? Did someone wake up one day and think, "You know, I think 'rainbow sheep' sounds a lot better than 'black sheep' despite the fact that black sheep actually exist and rainbow ones don't."
I still don't know what this is in reference to It sounds like one of those "blacks are taking over" scare stories that gets reported in a small town newspaper and then covered by Bill O'Reilly and passed around via email forwards for months
I think he was referring to the part where you said "you can't bring up chicken around a black person" Unless you were being sarcastic there too and actually meant that black people love to discuss chicken with you
It's not about the way that black people see it, it's about the way that EVERYONE sees it. You mention grape juice or chicken or watermelon around a black person, and suddenly everyone thinks you're trying to make a racially based joke or attack (even if it's a completely legitimate question or statement). It's like when people at school mention things around me about Scotland and the teachers will tell them to stop it (thinking that they're teasing me (they are admittedly, but it's all in good humour).
how often do watermelons come up in conversation
how often do watermelons come up in conversation
Were not talking about watermelons specifically. /dissmissedtroll
Yeah. Why would such changes be made had someone NOT done that? Did someone wake up one day and think, "You know, I think 'rainbow sheep' sounds a lot better than 'black sheep' despite the fact that black sheep actually exist and rainbow ones don't."
Oh I know what the fuck you are talking about now. Ahhahaha, that wasn't a race issue at all. They turned the black sheep rhyme into a action rhyme by exchanging several words in the rhyme. There's also blue sheep, "And one for the little girl", and some others. So you see, in the end, you still don't know anything.
too freaking often
Shut up, watch your new used TV (aka your neighbor's old TV), set down the watermelon, put out your joint, and pay attention to the media. Black people aren't a big deal anymore, your treated almost the same as any person now (Keep in mind you're still a minority). Now everyone likes to pick on middle eastern people, gay people, and fat people. No, I'm not serious...
You mention grape juice or chicken or watermelon around a black person, and suddenly everyone thinks you're trying to make a racially based joke or attack (even if it's a completely legitimate question or statement).
ahhaha oh my god i'm pretty sure black people don't get angry at grape juice seeing as they don't know what grape juice is it's like white people and Jhericurl lotion. i had to ask a dude about that
how often do watermelons come up in conversation
Every 20-30 seconds, roughly. /postdignified
Yeah. Why would such changes be made had someone NOT done that? I still don't get it.
Jhericurl lotion.
What?
What?
Yeah. What?
Ha ha, what the fuck are you people going on about? Let's get back to chicken.
Every 20-30 seconds, roughly. /postdignified
They're almost like punctuation marks, at this point.
Every single movie with more than one black person since 1990 has mentioned the jheri curl what the fuck
ahhaha oh my god i'm pretty sure black people don't get angry at grape juice seeing as they don't know what grape juice is it's like white people and Jhericurl lotion. i had to ask a dude about that
What'd you say? :toughguy: Naw, just kidding, anyways. I have expirenced this kind of issue that this user describes, but like I said before, I may expirence this weekly maybe even monthly. It's not really that big of a deal anymore, but it still does happen some of the time.
Every single movie with more than one black person since 1990 has mentioned the jheri curl what the fuck
I have NEVER once heard of that before. I assume it's that kind of hair style?
I'm pretty sure that you are doing some other shit to piss them off. I've talked vocally about chicken, watermelon, and grape juice. I've never had the stereotypical black person tell me that's racist. I've actually only heard white people say that's racist.
I think I just jumped into this conversation without prior knowledge of what you were actually talking about. I still don't get it.
Basically, Jayhawker made a nice thread meant to educate FPers on how to make racist jokes without it being really awkward and offensive. Half of Facepunch got mad at him because he is black, and the other half took it as an invitation to start making unfunny racist jokes. Sltungle has an O'Reilly-fueled persecution complex, and thisispain and myself are doing our God-given duty as Jews to publicly defend the black race while secretly manipulating them for our own nefarious purposes.
I have NEVER once heard of that before. I assume it's that kind of hair style?
too late it's fucking 2009 [editline]10:37PM[/editline]
And thisispain and myself are doing our God-given duty as Jews to publicly defend the black race while secretly manipulating them for our own nefarious purposes.
hey if they go back who's gonna run our street joints

I have had some people who don't know that we're friends tell me to stop being racist when they've heard me mention stuff like that around them before (although, they've actually all been white when I think about it).
too late it's fucking 2009 [editline]10:37PM[/editline] hey if they go back who's gonna run our street joints
Who's gonna smoke all of our street joints?
it's white people that openly say that black people are being persecuted against, and it's white poeple that openly say that black people are using past persecution to persecute. Only one in 5 people could actually be black in America so that's expected. [editline]10:40PM[/editline]
Who's gonna smoke all of our street joints?
gotta get up to date with yo street lingo

It's more of the time that people of other races that say "That's racist" more than black people do. I spoke a few words about MLK and someone suddenly jumped out and said "THATS RACIST HURF DURF" And he was white. +1 agree for you sir. EDIT: Also what I said was racist in no way, I just mentioned "Segragation" and "MLK" in the same sentence, then he jumps up.
