I want a chameleon.
I used to go Herping ALL the time about a year ago. I caught a baby Alligator snapping turtle. Some corn snakes and rat snakes, various frogs skinks and lizards. It is so much fun :3:
-snip- feed off message me if you want it back
A serious problem facing frog-lovers of the twenty-first century. Dare to ask the question. Ask your doctor about herpetitis testing.

What kind of snake is this?
A Grey's Treefrog that I caught in the driveway. You're supposed to hold them like this, right?
There's herp on your face.

I've never been able to get into frogs 'n such. They're neat and all, but I'm more into fuzzy things as far as animals go. My uncle loves 'em, though. He had a frog and newt that shared a tank with a couple of fish, but things ended badly for them both. The frog tried to devour him, for what I can only assume to be some kind of herp turf dispute, but choked to death with half the thing still sticking out of its mouth.
can you spot all the turtles? http://www.ustream.tv/channel/snapping-turtles
Herpetology is awesome and so are the people that study it. I've raised tons of frogs and toads from tadpoles, and had snakes and a turtle for a long time as well. Reptiles and amphibians are fucking awesome.
oh god i'm so fucking sorry postal but i imagined your avatar was saying all that so it was all like "HARPATOLOGIE IS AWWWSSUM AND SOOO ARRR THE PEEEPLE THAT STUUUDY IIIITTT RAVVREWEREM"
i like reptiles and etc
I am currently studying to become a Herpatologist, which requires a doctorate degree. I have around 42 Reptiles & Amphibians living in my home that I take care of, most of which are Anole lizards and Leopard Gecko's. I have been fascinated by these creatures since I was 5 and since I found out about Herpatology as a job (6 years of age) I have been fixated on that as what I wanted to be. I still am. My all-time favorite are Gecko's, how can you not love a face like this? *this is an African House gecko, they were moved from Africa 500 years ago to South America, and they have moved up to Florida around 200 years ago and have been living here since. They do no real damage to the ecosystem here and are soo cute. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline]
I've never been able to get into frogs 'n such. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] Also: you guys should really mosey-on-down to my Exotic Pet Thread, there's a whole section for Reptiles and Amphibians.
Love snakes, love them. I just think they are so cool. Will never have a pet one though, already have 2 dogs and mom is deathly afraid of snakes...

They are easy to take care of, are usually harmless, and you can always teach your dogs to be nice to the snake! Hell, I taught my dogs to be nice to my Reptiles. [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] that fucking treefrog is chirping again [editline]4th July 2011[/editline] so loud
I own an axolotl (I did own two, but one refused to eat anything we fed it and died) and it's awesome. You can tell how stressed it is by the colour of it's gills.
I am currently studying to become a Herpatologist, which requires a doctorate degree.
I start school in August. But I am only getting a masters. I will be dual majoring in Biology and Ecology, with specializations in herpetology. Not as good as a doctorate but I can go back to school when I can afford it

I plan to relocate myself to either Australia (which the government actually gives grants to Herpetologists) or Britain to be a lab-oriented scientist to study geckos.
I didn't actually catch this myself seeing how it lives on another continent, but it's one strange frog; the purple frog.
I wonder why Obama has not been listed. [editline]5th July 2011[/editline] After all, he is a Reptillian Lizardman.
