i agree that schizo is a very rare mental disease, and since its so debilitating, scary, and reletively famous because of the media people think its more common than it actually is. For example, since homicides and murders are documented heavily on news shows, people think murder is a common way of death. When asked to put together a list of what the most common killers of Americans, they score murder a lot higher than what it should be. Long story short, media panics the masses (big surprise there, i know). But schizo is known to come out in young adults, early twenties. So since you have a history, go to the doctor anyway. Its silly for people to be afraid of seeing their doctor. Catching anything early gives you the best results.
yup
Sometimes when I smoke I get visuals, but it's pretty textbook stuff like walls (slightly) morphing and seeing colours come out of the speakers. The psychotic symptoms are completely barable at this point though so unless I'm home alone I don't get any negative or "scary" symptoms.
I used to hear the voices of people I know talking, when very tired and high. I don't do anymore, not sure why.
Turn music up. "Shit, did somebody just knock?" is me. :v:
Turn music up. They work amazingly on airplanes though.

Schizophrenia isn't really actually that rare, tons of people have it but the severity of symptoms range greatly. You only ever hear about the people who talk to invisible cats, but there are millions of people with it who only experience the mildest symptoms. I've done a lot of research on it (beyond reading the Wikipedia on schizophrenia, even) and schizophrenia is a hard diagnosis to give because each case is different. Auditory and visual hallucinations, grandiose self views, hearing your name a lot when walking around in crowds, thinking people are out to get you/general paranoia etc a million billion other things can be seen as symptoms, but generally schizophrenia is just a really big social stigma when its really not that big a deal if it's minor. I know what you are talking about with the computer noise, but I think it's a matter of lack of sleep. I'll go two or three days at a time without sleeping and when sleep finally does come right at the edge of it I experience the same thing. I would describe it as an intensely loud garbled computer noise, like a classic movie "the computer system is going down" kinda noise, from within my brain. It's loud, jolts me awake, and I can't sleep for another hour or two after it happens, but I would say I only get it like once every two or three months. It probably is just some exhaustion related hallucination and nothing to worry about, but it couldn't hurt to take a break from bud and talk to a psychiatrist and see if there is anything going on. Lemme know how it goes and I hope you get better!!! OK bye!!!
the main problem is diagnosing it by the book. The DSM-IV TR needs a certain cluster of systems to be maintained for 6 months to categorize it as schizophrenia. Also depending on the symptoms determines which type you are. The reason its so hard to diagnose schizo along with any other mental disorder is because of its stigma. Saying you have a mental disorder says that you are unfit for society (not directly but it gives the impression to people, which is terrible). This is why people were trying to take homosexuality off the DSM and succeeded in the text revision (i believe, or maybe it was DSM IV) but they still have to this day transsexuals as a gender mental disorder which still sparks controversy. Diagnosis is tricky as you said, and im not even sure of how they are going to deal with it when the DSM V comes out in May 2013.

We'll be doing this together, I'm stopping too for a while, I will try to sort things out in my life.
I'm considering not smoking when I get into university so many stories of lazy stoner layabouts who drop out mid way and that sounds like me if I smoked regularly
I'm considering not smoking when I get into university so many stories of lazy stoner layabouts who drop out mid way and that sounds like me if I smoked regularly
weed pisses me off sometimes because I get real lazy after I smoke all I do when high is sit on my ass and eat like a motherfucker
hence why I think smoking during my first year of the study that actually matters is a bad decision will just make it when I'm out with friends and stuff, not going to give up on stuff like psychs though. Stopping entirely isn't a bad idea either though
you can do psychs but chill them out at periods at a time but it would be the best move to stop entirely. Main thing is I'm taking next year off (gonna try to get a job, maybe go to TAFE or something similar to get a trade or something while I wait) and if that doesn't work out get a part time job, so other than than that I can just rage all day erryday and not have to worry about stuff
They're so hard to get a hold of it's impossible for me to abuse them it'd be like a monthly thing, at best
same around here but fuck it I know I can get shrooms but I'm afraid of the heavier psychs like those I've only done salvia and that was a trip in itself
just take a low dose first time and increase it periodically also if you have any pre-existing worries beforehand (like eg are these safe) just don't do it, wait until you have no worries.
just take a low dose first time and increase it periodically also if you have any pre-existing worries beforehand (like eg are these safe) just don't do it, wait until you have no worries.
yeah the only worry I have is becoming mentally fucked but I've smoked salvia and came back ok
I've only tried psychs once and I had a very bad time (because I wasn't careful) and I came back perfectly fine it's only fueled my need to get some more so I can experience the beauty once more, if you're not ready, don't even think about it. Pretty simple

too tempting
too tempting
Do your work at uni so then there will be less temptation, I always have large breaks between lectures where I will do the majority of my work.
I have a year until then it's not even worth thinking about still more than a year I guess

you should post outside the quotes :v:
