Weird how different the effects of some drugs can be on people. For you it might be developing schizo where as for me it has supressed my schizo to the point where i can stop smoking and it'll still be gone. But i hope you can rule out weed as a cause, keep in mind that messed up sleep patterns can seriously fuck with your mind, more than you'd probably think. Get well friend.
I sometimes hear mumbled conversation on the verge of sleep and suffer pretty large visual distortions. These verge-of-sleep hallucinations are simply your cognitive ability malfunctioning as you lose consciousness. They are often more intense and occur more often the more fucked up your sleep schedule is/sleep deprived you are. Schizophrenia never goes away, and doesn't just present on the verge of sleep. I have little closed eye hallucinations too [like seeing a cat run up the wall when I close my eyes, thinking I can still see the room, etc] and my psych assures me all of that is perfectly normal. I also hear little beeps and boops, the clacking of a keyboard, video game noises [especially if I was recently playing it, etc. My worst instance was hearing the Bloodsucker scream from STALKER very loudly and clearly. It scared the fuck out of me. This all only occurs when I severely need sleep and am on the verge, though [or am dozing off while under the influence of pot]. Anxiety can exacerbate all of this, as it results in hypochondria and attempted self diagnosis. You are looking at little things out of context and attempting to make a very concise diagnosis with no data. The anxiety makes you feel that if you can figure it out, you can save yourself. You start looking for signs of perceptual distortion [which in fact, most people have tons of but tune out] and start freaking out because once you are looking for them you notice more and more. Every little visual auditory or visual glitch sends you into despair, because you want to save yourself but feel it is hopeless. If all or of this sounds familiar I would recommend asking your doctor about Atarax which is a very mild anti anxiety which is actually an antihistamine with pretty much zero side effects - worst case scenario, you end up with a kick-ass allergy medication. It completely changed my life, when I didn't even realize that I had an anxiety problem. I had everything in the above paragraph and more. It also makes smoking weed a lot more pleasant as it nullifies most mild anxious thoughts that can snowball. 10 mg nearly completely fixed my anxiety in smooth waters and 25 mg was enough to completely fix all of my problems. It doesn't affect my focus or make me very drowsy either.
Shitty, but I guess I won't be buying weed for a long, long time. Its interfering with relationships, keeping me from getting a job. Shitty. Maybe in a year I'll start again. I doubt I'll have dealers to go through by that time though.
As long as you don't hear that sound when you are not tired and not trying to sleep, then it's highly unlikely it has anything to do with scizophrenia. It's completly normal to hear sounds or see things when you are really tired and drifting into sleep... It's called dreaming. When you are really tired or well fall asleep quickly, the dreaming starts sooner. Normally you wont start dreaming untill you been sleeping like 2 hrs. But sometimes it starts as soon as ur sleeping. I've thought I heard sounds before, but realized there was no sound. And this only happens when im drifting into sleep. I've also woken up seeing stuff (hallucinating) but just for a few seconds until I am completly awake. Don't worry. As long as this only happens when you're high and/or trying to sleep then it's all normal.
coolio lol. well I smoked a full blunt today so the high wasn't so bad and I started to love everything
They're so hard to get a hold of it's impossible for me to abuse them it'd be like a monthly thing, at best [editline]21st August 2011[/editline] well I'd consider not smoking because I'd be like "oh yeah I can have one cone" then I'd get wasted and do no work have this happen like eight times a week and that'll suck. Main thing is I'm taking next year off (gonna try to get a job, maybe go to TAFE or something similar to get a trade or something while I wait) and if that doesn't work out get a part time job, so other than than that I can just rage all day erryday and not have to worry about stuff
Use weed as a reward when the job is DONE = the most awesome grades you ever had
I've decided to stop smoking weed for the fact that I think I'm developing schizophrenia I'm not sure if it's the weed or anything but I'm going to try and string this out and find out if I am indeed developing it. Now I'm not blaming the weed because I've also been staying up untill 4 AM every day then waking up at 2 PM. I'll still be around in DD though. I loved the times I'd be high and/or drunk as fuck trying to post it was a great challenge but for now I'm done smoking. whats weird is when I'm tired or high and get that head fuzz I close my eyes trying to go to sleep and thats when I hear things but it's only once and a very short sound. The sound sounds like a computerized sound. It is kinda freaking me out a little so I'm going to go to a psychiatrist. Another thing is my grandmother is the only one with schizophrenia so I may or may not have it.
what can you develop schizophrenia that way i tend to do something similar on weekends [editline]2nd September 2011[/editline] also sometimes when I lay on bed I can imagine other people's voices, though I tend to induce it. I can't control what they say, however. But I know that they're in my mind, and not coming from somewhere else. also, there's been times when I'm high that i could've sworn that someone said something and I say "what", when they haven't said anything. I discarded this as an auditory hallucination which only happened when I was being paranoid, but I want to be safe I guess. [editline]2nd September 2011[/editline]
Schizophrenia isn't really actually that rare, tons of people have it but the severity of symptoms range greatly. You only ever hear about the people who talk to invisible cats, but there are millions of people with it who only experience the mildest symptoms. I've done a lot of research on it (beyond reading the Wikipedia on schizophrenia, even) and schizophrenia is a hard diagnosis to give because each case is different. Auditory and visual hallucinations, grandiose self views, hearing your name a lot when walking around in crowds, thinking people are out to get you/general paranoia etc a million billion other things can be seen as symptoms, but generally schizophrenia is just a really big social stigma when its really not that big a deal if it's minor. I know what you are talking about with the computer noise, but I think it's a matter of lack of sleep. I'll go two or three days at a time without sleeping and when sleep finally does come right at the edge of it I experience the same thing. I would describe it as an intensely loud garbled computer noise, like a classic movie "the computer system is going down" kinda noise, from within my brain. It's loud, jolts me awake, and I can't sleep for another hour or two after it happens, but I would say I only get it like once every two or three months. It probably is just some exhaustion related hallucination and nothing to worry about, but it couldn't hurt to take a break from bud and talk to a psychiatrist and see if there is anything going on. Lemme know how it goes and I hope you get better!!! OK bye!!!
that happens to me sometimes uh oh [editline]2nd September 2011[/editline]
As long as you don't hear that sound when you are not tired and not trying to sleep, then it's highly unlikely it has anything to do with scizophrenia. Not only sound but also in the eyes, i remember when i woked up in the middle of the night and stared at a hole on the roof, i could see the sky with a bunch of stars, i blinked then it disappeared. Chemical sleeping crap causing that aparently.
