tfw you don't know what's wrong with your router and why you're only getting 2Mbps on wi-fi but you pay for 45Mbps. :surrender:

try a ethernet connection with a pc or something
if the device youre trying to get wifi connection to is old its likely that the wifi card isn't meant to handle that much mbps

the only wired PC in the house gets like 50Mbps, but I can't run wires through the house to get to my PC because it's a little too far and I don't live alone.
None of the devices I've tried (my desktop, my laptop, my phone) are outdated and I just installed a new PCI-E card into my desktop anyway but they're still all getting the same shitty speed. Idk what's causin it besides the possibility that AT&T just fuckin succs.

Probably but if this is the case, I don't want my dad to be paying money for 45Mbps when we're only getting fuckin 2, y'know.

If you haven't tried already, try resetting the router by unplugging it for about 2 minutes and plugging it back in. If that doesn't work, and assuming your main router for the internet isn't one of those combo routers that works for both wired and wireless connections, get yourself a separate wireless router and connect it to your main router.
And if you're still getting the 2 Mbps after doing all of that, then get a hold of your ISP and chew them out about your service being lousy before threatening to go to another provider (assuming you're not stuck with a contract, of course).

I've tried resetting the router, changing channels, etc.
But I actually just realized after doing a speedtest on my phone throughout the house that my room is literally just too far to receive the signal properly. My mom, whose room is right next to the kitchen (where the router/modem is), gets about 22Mbps which would be more than enough for me if I could manage to get it, but I'm all the way across the house.
I don't really wanna run an ethernet cable all the way through the house as it presents a tripping hazard for the 1 year old who lives here and my dad would probably not be totally ecstatic about me asking him if we could run wiring through the attic or under the house (which I'm not sure is possible anyway since I think we're on a concrete foundation). So I'm trying to think about what other options there might be.
I awaken.
