everyone i've sold onto ambient music usually falls in love as soon as they hear this

It's nice to know I still know how to think like a designer.
For real though I have like a few hundred gigs, probably between 500gb - 1tb, of ambient music, but since I mostly make ambient stuff it kind of makes sense that it is one of my more populated genres in my collection.
I just go to youtube for my music lmao.

What do you use to make ambient music? I've always wanted to make and alter field recordings and try myself.
I just go to youtube for my music lmao.
Youtube, spotify, etc doesn't even have half of the music I have, so all those services are kind of useless for me.
I just go to youtube for my music lmao.
either that or spotify for me
Whatever music I need for working out and running is on my phone.
if you like some more obscure artists or even dive slightly deep into any artists backlog you really probably won't be able to stream them
spotify is fucking terrible for musicians unless you've already made it big
What do you use to make ambient music? I've always wanted to make and alter field recordings and try myself.
I use some field recording equipment, various synths, effect pedals/effect gear, and bunch of experimental shit I build randomly, some synths (a lot of granular synthesis), and some special sauce stuff. Tbh to make ambient music you really just need your phone's mic and a reverb/delay guitar pedal. I do a lot of experimental stuff though so I encorporate like tape loops, weird microphones, and junk like that into my songs.

i base my pseudo-hipster props on how easily music is to find on a scale from on youtube to obscure foreign fan sites.
I don't know artists as much as I know songs.
Not really into music that much. I like all kinds.

Even then you still only get like 0.001 cents per listen or something ridiculous like that.

ambient music is wonderful in the sense of that there is no real right way to make it
there are a lot of methods that have been used to make it and it really falls onto how creative you can get with sounds

I go to a lot of foreign websites for music discovery. Other times it's just weird tapes you find on the side of the road that someone recorded over. Stuff like that.
the more i find out about splenda
the more i understand him

One of my favorite songs I have made was I took a blank vinyl and ran it through lots of delays and reverbs and stuff. So like the small specks of dust turned into big drones.
Even then you still only get like 0.001 cents per listen or something ridiculous like that.
yeah if you get say, over ten thousand plays you still won't probably even be able to pay for anything like a meal out or a video game or w/e
they really pay musicians very poorly

what do you use to compile it all together though? just audacity or something more sophisticated?
spotify doesn't have the all too common chalga style music and popfolk
Where can I get my ovesexualized music?
they still think you like gay military themed porn?
Yeah about that gay porn
After I explained I hope they won't make fun of me again

heres a fun thing anyone can do:
download audacity and open up a sound that you find relaxing, or a bit in a song that you find really chill. select an area and go to effects and hit "Paulstretch"
super stretched out sound that can sometimes sound super chilled out

You literally just pick up tapes from the side of the road and listen to them?
I think you're the Uber Hipster

No one will ever understand me. Even close friends are confused by my artistic tastes/musical tastes. Let's just say never hire me as a dj because I will go from like weird polish cult dance music to feminist punk to some guy just walking around in the snow next to some factories to spanish covers of classic rock songs, etc.

Paulstretch is super cool. I don't use it a lot because I always forget about it, but its a super neato algorithm!

tbh hipsterism died the day the term hipster was created.
I used to listen to ambient music back when I was in middle school.
Those were darker times.
Not necessarily because of the music though.

I have been a user of ableton live since their first version, seriously my dad bought it when I was really little and I've just grown up around studio gear and music production. But stuff like audacity would work. If you want something cheap that is more powerful, check out Reaper. It's like $50, their evaluation period never ends either if you want to use it for free but have your karma take a hit, and is really nice too.

splenda is like level 5 hipster

I don't even use that word ironically anymore. IDK why people strive so much to be counterculture it kind of sucks tbh.
Something that will always stick with me though is the phrase "Weird people want to be more normal, while normal people want to be more weird."

I'll probably stick with Audacity unless I get serious.
