Sometimes the music listening community pisses me off.

See I always knew you were a pompous bastard but that just fucking proves it, "electric guitar sounds so bad"
Your a closed minded fool limiting yourself to an archaic genre, albeit good at times, and creatively starving yourself.
Enjoy your musical elitism, cause right now i'm enjoying Fear Factory and Kamelot
EDIT: and classical is played on a classical guitar not an acoustic.

Look I am not saying modern music is shit but I don't like it, I am not in any way saying anything negative about it.
I guess that if I searched hard enough for anything modern that is good I would find it, but at the moment I am not very interested in doing so partly because I don't like song very much either.
Kraftwerk is fine though.
And if I don't like Electric Guitars that's my business
See the thing is it's not difficult to find good music from this era, I just think you've never really fuckin tried apart from the charts.
And to say you don't like electric guitars is actually beyond retarded considering the amazing variation of tones achievable, and that the original electric guitar was invented simply to make an acoustic/classical guitar able to be heard easier in large performances.

You don't need to swear.
Why are you so angry? What do you achieve by trying to make me listen to modern music?
I suppose i'm tired of phenomenal artists going unnoticed, and the fact you hate an amplified instrument that is a more advanced version of one you love so much.

Sorry to say this but that happens a lot more when it comes to classical music, a prime example would be Alkan.
And I didn't say that I hate electric guitars...
Nor that I love classical guitar.
Oh well let's leave this conversation, carry on with your music and I'll carry on with mine.
By the way Kentz, you would probably like Joanna Newsom. She just came out with a new album and it is 2 hours long.
It is also fantastic.
I couldn't agree more with OP, I hate when this happens, basically in anything, not just music.
One thing I can't stand is people who say "they listen to a bit of everything"
as if, it's just the pop crap that's in the charts they listen to
I really wish people like that had more diverse underground tastes
I agree, this is annoying but I belive they don't really care what they do listen to as long as they enjoy it, they don't really do research or bother finding out what it is that they are listening too, so they don't really have anything to say.
I think not being able to appreciate modern music is just as ignorant as not being able to appreciate classical music.
I see your point, but I usually say "I don't like mordern music" and what I mean is that I haven't found anything I like (/yet).
What is mordern music?
One thing I can't stand is people who say "they listen to a bit of everything"

I've never met anyone who actually does listen to "a bit of everything"

She was...special.

I can justly say that I listen to everything. My playlist, if shuffled, will be somewhat like:
Kids - MGMT
Tarantula - Pendulum
Misery Business - Paramore
Lashed to the Slave Stick - Nile
Point/Counterpoint - Streetlight Manifesto
Seize the Day - Avenged Sevenfold
Bring the Noise (Benny Benassi Remix) - Public Enemy
Same in the End - Sublime
The Con - Tegan and Sara
Exodus - Anti Flag
Dancing Shoes - Arctic Monkeys
Back in the USSR - The Beatles
We Danced - Brad Paisley
Needled 24/7 - Children of Bodom
Beethoven's 7th

If someone gives a reason for their dislike of a genre I don't mind. I'm a metalhead, and what annoys the HELL out of me is when people think every single metal band is some grindcore satanic shit that revolves around heavy bass with no tune and bashing on the drums with no real rhythm whatsoever. Goddamn it pisses me off, it's the fucking epitome of ignorance. And the fact that people make that judgement even though they've hard incredibly little or no metal AT ALL is even worse. They don't even make the smallest attempt to see what metal sounds like.
This. So much this.
i usually end up telling people i kinda enjoy everything
i usually end up telling people i kinda enjoy everything
So you usually blatantly lie? No one 'enjoys everything'
most people aren't into music like i am, so whatever, i like most of the bigger genres, and don't really hate pop so whatever
most people aren't into music like i am, so whatever, i like most of the bigger genres, and don't really hate pop so whatever
If someone asks you what kind of music you enjoy, I'm pretty sure they actually want to know what kind of music you enjoy, not the music you have in common
What, people are not allowed to express their opinion nowadays?
If I dislike a band/movie/game, I'll say that I dislike a band/movie/game, I don't see where the problem is.
[editline]11:33AM[/editline]
People going "your music sucks, listen to better music" are a completely different story though.
Tbh people saying "x sucks" are total dumbasses. If someone makes music that someone else likes, don't say it sucks even though you don't like it. You can say you don't like it, but even that is stupid if you don't rationalize, cause nobody gives a shit.
When was the last time you actually heard someone express their option of a band that they don't like with good reasoning or politely?
If someone asks you what kind of music you enjoy, I'm pretty sure they actually want to know what kind of music you enjoy, not the music you have in common
Eh, most of the time people don't really know names, if they seem like they know what they're talking about I'll probably name specifics. I've only really met two people in real life that have a similar taste in music. lol

Uh, don't you listen to like death metal? I've met at least 5 people who listen to death.

That's a pretty far cry from everything. It's a lot of famous stuff, but there's a lot more music that's not even touched on
God you are such a cliche
Maybe so, but I don't pre-occupy myself with what and what, (Or who), isn't cliche. I couldn't give a rat's ass if a band is popular, if it sounds good, I'll listen to it.
Anyways, I'm cliche for liking most kinds of music? I'm not saying that I listen to it all equally, but I will listen to most genres. Is it bad that I really can't stand Lil Wayne? His lyrics are repetitive, the effect he uses on his voice makes me cringe, and I can't really listen to the instruments on his tracks because of the overdrive of the other things. That's of course my opinion, and Lil Wayne is just an example, I don't know what genre he fits into. I can listen to rap, and country is fine by me, but not my 'cup of tea'.
Are you trying to tell me that you're not biased at all towards or away from any type of music for whatever reasons, rational or not? I'm not sure if I'm making sense or not here because I'm pretty tired, but I'm trying to get across that I don't care what I am, I just listen to music because it sounds good, and if I get shunned for that, then I really can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.
EDIT: If I was being misleading by saying 'I listen to everything', (If that Is what I said, I can't be sure at the moment), I can see how that's misleading. What I mean is, I will listen to most anything if able too/subject to. I didn't mean I listen to everything equally at all times. I go from genre to genre, similar bands, etc. For example, I was fucking obsessed with Daft Punk, My Epiphany, MGMT, Justice, The Killers, (I'm fairly sure half of you are turning heads by now), and similar odd sounding bands half a year ago. That shifted to Gorrilaz, for some reason Jimmy Eat World, and calm bands like the Gorillaz. Currently, I'm quite taken with P.O.S., Analyrical, KMK, and other bands like that. Not sure what those are generalized under, but I like them. I'm a hypocrite, but everyone is at the core.
I listen to music as it actively changes my mood.
If I listen to Killing Floor music or Heavy Metal, I get nice and aggressive.
If I listen to Wolfmother I think of Runescape (because of the fantasy lyrics of most of their songs)
If I listen to Mr Scruff I chill so much I turn into jelly and florp off the sofa.
blah blah blah
This is why you are a cliche.
"I listen to everything except music that isn't metal"
I enjoy confusing people because I'm an asshole with a closed-minded taste in music.
Seriously. Why should I be ashamed that the music I listen to all comes from a few different subgenres of metal? You shouldn't have to justify your personal preferences to other people. (Yes, even if you like gangsta rap or country.)
This is why you are a cliche.
Because other people don't like those particular genres as well?
That's terrible. He should listen to music he doesn't like just to please you.
It’s the same thing as when people say they like all kinds of music except rap and country, which is a vaguely racist and classist statement.
lol if you don't like music made by black people ur racist and all rednecks are poor and if you dont like thir music ur classist
i think at the end of the day it's all about understanding musical preference, i dont really like rap and pop (stuff like the charts) but i can see and understand why other people love it, its just not for me
I listen to everything including rap and country.
I'm not classist or racist yay
