Weightlifting/Bodybuilding Thread V.5 - How do I lift?
1,000 replies, posted
Its not so much "part the halls holy fuck its that guy" but moreso "hes pretty big, better not pick on him". I'm probably one of the least aggressive guys, I just appear so. I like to promote weight lifting, not demonize it.
achieved the dream: visible abs @ 200 lb
gonna keep on cuttin tho
I feel like for me, not being pushed around was entirely attitude. I'm still skinny as fuck but because I carry myself like a bigger, confident guy people stopped pushing me around. I learned how to carefully and smartly assert myself when needed and now people don't care that I'm tiny.

I mean I know that's not gonna work in all situations but that worked for me very well.
Since I box, I just walk around with my boxing stance like I'm fucking mike tyson and people keep their distances in fear of turning retard like me.
im getting more belly fat
but bigger arms
fuck dis shit i dont like fat at all

bigger arms is usually more glycogen storing capabilities and fluid retention, rather than pure sarcomere mass. but if it's growing steadily it's ok
also you get belly fat because bulking that's why. bulking is bad. get your macros from clean food, you can go over with your protein ofc to be sure.
but real maintenance is hard to find, just eat well and diss the sugar. don't overcomplicate with 300cal over maintenance 'n shit.
edit:
what i mean is, all you guys thinking that you need 3500 cal a day may not train hard enough for that. as long as blood concentration of protein is elevated nobody is going to touch your mussels. worst case scenario you don't grow muscle, just repair it. stop eating like pigs.
clean eating and progressing slow yields the most solid results, that go away hard :)
Nigga, eating like a pig give me the energy to lift planets on my back like I'm fucking Atlas.
Can't lift shit on a cut, I die after 15 minutes because I've already used up all the energy I ate in the day.

i'm not saying you should cut. have a bowl with 100 grams of oatmeal with milk (not low fat shit) and nesquick 2 hours before the gym (i guess around 400-500kcal). you'll be tearing down walls
your biggest meal of the day should be 3 hours before going to the gym anyway. it should be filled with slow digesting carbs and protein (rice and chicken maybe?).
also, as a tip, get fast carbz post workout. 80-100 kcal off something sweet should do the trick. top that with whey, and you'll have a quick homemade slight gainer that will stop breaking down muscle
edit:
you don't really need shakes two times a day unless you're pro or smth lol
EDIT:
HOLY SHIT i just realized i'm getting 400-500 kcal every morning and i wondered why i'm slowly getting fat lol.i guess i should tone down the tasty oatmeal
Ohhhhh shit, all hail The Mute, I'm eating much more than before and I originally gained 1-2 pounds but today I'm back to my original weight 179 lbs weight from before I started my diet break, guess my hormones are back in place and stopped being foggats, will start cutting again monday and finish what I started, gotta get that 12%.
pree much what blah said, i get in basically all of my carbs a few hours before my workout. otherwise i can't lift for shit and can only do like 2 sets of an exercise instead of 5-6

give me your macros. this shouldn't be the case, no, not with your bodyfat precentage.

1.bigger arms are bigger arms like bigger legs are bigger legs. it's the same everywhere in your body.
2. it's just the way he stores fat, has nothing to do with the way his body responds to training. even if he were to get his macros from clean eating like rice, it's still carbs. doesn't matter. he'll look the same.
3. trial n error. no magic pill here regarding maintance.
and most importantly, I in contrast to popular belief, like bulking. and mini-cuts. if you gain 30 pounds in 30 months, then that's going overboard health-wise and it's just not practical to cut every 3 months. key is to count protein, hit it, and just eat carbs as much as you'd like. going up steadily, weekly in weight? good. keep at it. simple as that. eating clean is absurd, especially at the level of trainees here .... once you become kai greenes you can limit yourselves because what you gain is already very very much limited. you just can't gain 5 pounds per month or even a year so it's worth it to control the amount that goes in your mouth.
give me your macros. this shouldn't be the case, no, not with your bodyfat precentage.
Yeah well, that's probably because my hormones were all fucked near the end, I had ot eat like 1500 calories to lose any weight so I could barely get energy and most of that 1500 calories was me trying to get protein.
Now I eat like nearly 3000 on my diet break and I'm keeping the same weight as before no problem, still 179 lbs.
[editline]6th April 2013[/editline]
What the fuck, I just read that shit up there, why did I ever allow myself to drink so much.
good, let me know how it goes after the diet break ...
Will do, starting again on Monday.
Also, is it wrong that I don't precisely count my macros, I just kind of eat good shit and guesstimate how much calories and macronutrients I had by looking at the nutrition labels on the back of stuff and adding it up.
I've been doing the stronglifts program for 2 months now, because I'm fucking skinny, currently 60 kgs and I'd like to get a bit bigger. How do I start with it? And could someone show me the proper form for bent-over rows?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA OMG YOUR ASKING FOR WORKOUT ADVICE ON FACEPUNCH LMAO NO BAD
it helps to grab the bar inversely than in the video :)

it's a diet break ... if you looked at the labels that by itself suggests you are controlling your intake somewhat and not using this diet break as a jumping board for binge eating
it helps to grab the bar inversely than in the video :)
i think people should appreciate their forearms more than just go straight to sorta-bicep curling the bars....
regardless, there are enough videos around, try it, ask questions, listen to your body see where you feel it as opposed to where you should ... are you having tension or any kind of discomfort in any part in the lift itself or your bodyparts aka hamstrings ...
remember, the movement is for your back, keep that in mind.

Start with very light weight when it comes to lat and other back exercises. Try to feel those muscles work, and once your body knows how to do the exercise, start amping up the weight.

I do the same thing also when I'm on a cut though, I don't precisely track anything, everything I do is guesstimation, just wondering if that's bad or not.
[editline]6th April 2013[/editline]
Also jesus, need to get my strength up, I'm weak as fuck on almost all my lifts.
