I'm only athiest because it's logical. There is literally no hard evidence of god or faith or any of that.
It's wierd round here, like I feel out of place. I just wanted to know, whats with all the athiest here? Why do they seem commonly related to FP, or the internet for that matter? I'm not trying to critisize people on there beliefs (or non-beliefs in this case) but I'm just wondering.
This is the age of enlightenment. The religious need not apply.
Pretty good guy, The God Delusion was the first or second major thing I read on atheism, which was nice. The only real crappy thing he's done in recent times was giving Bill Maher the Richard Dawkins' Foundation prize or something like that. So far as "atheist activists" or "atheist representatives" go, I like PZ Myers a lot more, though.
did he seriously do that? what the fuck [editline]01:09AM[/editline]
I love Richard.
the full debate is interesting

Here's the first, i'm sure you can find more by searching for it in his archives: http://scienceblogs.com/insolence/2009/07/bill_maher_gets_the_richard_dawkins_awar.php Though PZ semi-supported it, which was a tad annoying, but oh well. Not like he was the one giving the prize.

Neil deGrasse Tyson is cool too.
Yeah, the one I posted skews the truth of the quote, but it's great to hear that come out of Dawkins mouth. Neil deGrasse Tyson is cool too.
There's also Michio Kaku and Phil Plait, so far as cool astronomers go. Though Kaku is kind of a cosmologist/physicist
And think about, Athiest do believe in something, most of them support evolution as a theory to life, and really Athiesm is supposed to be about not believing.
There's a difference when we talk about something that has been studied with the scientific methoid, undogmatically. This is what I hate in religious people. I really don't want to generalize too much but I see this all the time. They rip stuff out of their ass without researching and thinking rationally.
Sorry for having an opinion.
You cant disprove nor prove religion.
phil plait's new show looks interesting

The first time I saw him was on that one show that talked about the future and he called himself a "futurist" [editline]02:30AM[/editline] And his other show where he designed a lightsabre and a flying saucer.
One of the Science Channel shows, probably, he's featured on there a lot. And his theoretical work/writing is pretty awesome, check out the book Physics of the Impossible if you're interested, it's fascinating. Also, sleep time. Night FP.
I like listening to his lectures on quantum theory, he describes stuff in ways that aren't boring
He has a good way of talking to normal people.
FP is the haven for all angsty teens.
so you're saying all the atheists on Facepunch are angsty teens? that's some profound logic.
