What exactly was it that made Beatles so influencal? It's the standard answer for these kind of threads. But really, what did they do? "They changed music forever" - how so? Sure, by being the best selling band ever you will automatically influence alot of people. Got any concrete points to bring up? The funny thing is that people say that the band was the most influencal of all times, but yet everyone says they have a unique style that has remained unmatched for 50 years. Isn't that a bit contradictable? I think it's worth discussing.
I'm not trying to start a fight and I'm not saying that Beatles weren't influencal.
The Beatles were influential because of their style and surrealness.
Black sabbath, led zepplin, acdc.
Most moder nmusic comes from, at its very root, African tribal songs, because they transformed into the songs that slaves would sing while working in the fields, which would become jazz, which would become every type of genre we have today.
Classical evolved stylistically, but not as a genre.

Oh will you two cut it out
You're just as thick headed as each other when you start arguing about the beatles
I try to put him on the right path. Then he whines, what is there to do?
There is no better path to cross when starting as early as you can when listening to music. :smug:
Go bang some rocks together then, earliest you can start :smug:
itt:en-gauge criticizes people for what he himself does
That engauge... Funny guy.
But in times like this, he gets confused with what to like. :mmmsmug:
He does :smug:
What the hell? I just think it's worth a discussion instead of blindely accepting it. Again, I am not saying that I don't like the band or that I don't think they were influencal..
This is a discussion forum after all.
currently?
metal has always been extremely popular in the underground
Doesn't underground and popular kind of cancel out?
I was referring to metals popularity among, well everyone seems to be listening to metal these days. It used to be a much more underground thing.
The Velvet Underground, I think.
