They better not fuck with Heather's character.
She was one of my favorite characters.
This should be good, the first one was actually pretty good. It actually kinda managed to capture the Silent Hill atmosphere pretty well.
Not as good as the games, of course.
Silent Hill 1 - Terrifying, never finished it
Silent Hill 2 - Best game ever
Silent Hill 3 - Mediocre Resi Clone
Silent Hill 4 - Very misunderstood, but absolutely brilliant
Silent Hill: Homecoming - Actually very enjoyable
Silent Hill movie - Surprisingly pretty good, but not great.
Silent Hill 4 - Very misunderstood, but absolutely brilliant
Hahaha.
I hated Homecoming and how they tried to make it some kind of action/horror hybrid like Resident Evil 4, but failed in both regards
Silent Hill 3 - Mediocre Resi Clone
Silent Hill 3 was awesome, and had my favorite character to play as (since Heather's actually normal, with believable commentary for a teenager). How you can call it mediocre is beyond my understanding.
:colbert:
3D hate is just a bandwagon. There is nothing wrong with it. Just look at Toy Story 3, was that a stupid film?
Toy Story's 3D didn't really add anything to the movie, and for movies that actually are made for 3D often look stupid with shit flying at you constantly. I wish there was a happy medium, but I have yet to see it.
you don't have to see it in 3D
I prefer watching it in 3D i just hate the after effects!

It still had a good story was still enjoyable.
Silent Hill 4 was also fun, hell it was very wierd compared to the other games, but I liked it.
The incredibly horrible gameplay ruined SH4 for me. The idea and story seemed interesting enough, but the gameplay was just a big pile of frustrating shit.

was exactly the same as the last three.

sorry, but, that makes you an idiot

well the way pixar has decided to use it was just to make it look as though it was being done right before your eyes. as a proper film studio and proper directors, they don't think 3D should add to the film, nor should anything need to add to it anyway, the film should be perfectly enjoyable either way, and again the 3D is an option.
The point of silent hill is to really tell a story about the character's insecurities, fears and ambition through the monsters and encounters they face. The town of silent hill doesn't cause of it, but it is a catalyst that allows for the inner depths of one's mind to come out and face the character. Those who fail are not the ones who die, but the ones that come out tormented from the experience, not becoming any stronger and lacking the will and bravery to face their own problems.
Silent hill, when looked at a purely conceptual point of view (as in the above) is like Hitchcock meets Lovecraft.
And if it all comes together, the acting, the concept, and the psychological mind-rape, then it will definitely catch the eye of many people.
He's Silent Hills mascot. Like Space Marines and 40k, he's not necessary for it to be good but they get thrown in because they can.
It literally made no sense at all for him to be there. Pyramid head is James's thing.

The first movie had the janitor monster and the nurses which tormented the little girl except the main character was the mother.
was exactly the same as the last three.
Ghosts that you can't kill, breaking items, retreading the same levels, and a sucky inventory system made it unenjoyable
(just remembered Silent Hill 2 had escort missions too)
I really liked the first Silent Hill movie. Never played any of the games, but the atmosphere was quite unique.
The point of silent hill...
This is why I love Silent Hill, it's so well thought-out.
It literally made no sense at all for him to be there. Pyramid head is James's thing.
as i mentioned earlier, they had to have him there just because he's the only true villain in the entire series, and in order for the film to do well it would need a villain (which is why games typically don't make good movies because - typically - games don't really have single villains except for in the Zelda and Mario series). the film itself took on a weird story that was already a combination of games, so it's not like it was a completely honest and direct game->film type of thing.
The first movie had the janitor monster and the nurses which tormented the little girl except the main character was the mother.
well yes and no, the audience just experienced Silent Hill through her mother, but the world was, well, you can (and should) interpret it as though the other world was composed entirely on the little girl's fears and "memories". if my memory serves me properly, the girl was a reincarnation, of sorts, of the "witch" girl that was killed/murdered/trialed in Silent Hill.
so, as she was lost there, and her (adoptive?) mother was looking for her, the world changed and took on the form of that girl's fears.
it's really hard to explain it but then again it wouldn't be silent hill if it was easy to explain.
i'm gonna go play silent hill, now.

fucking HATE escort missions, any game, hate them
silent hill 4 has them, too. sort of.
I actually liked Silent hill up until (lolspoilertags) [sp]the girl shoved the entire story down my throat in a session of mind achingly boring 8 minutes[/sp] and then the rest of the movie felt rushed and left a sour taste in my mouth :saddowns:
7.8 out 10? That can't be right. At least there's only 2 users.

Very well said.
Oh god the poster: http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2520362496/tt0938330
It's basically "GUYS GUYS COME SEE THIS PYRAMID HEAD IS IN IT"
And oh lord the tagline "This halloween prepare for a 3D ride through HELL"
I am literally vomiting
Calm down. It's just a movie.
Looks cool, I don't mean to jump on the 3D hate bandwagon, I enjoy it usually, but I just dislike it generally when a movie's advertising campaign revolves around it begin 3D. I mean, it should revolve around the movie itself and not its 3D effects.
The trailer also makes a lot of it look really fake/CGI
It was a good movie imo, it had some downfalls but the downfalls were it trying to appeal to a regular audience. The game references are there. Espically the ending.
It's worth watching, just don't expect to get game canon.
