I'm well looking forward to it, should be a great laugh.
I thought it was good. Ending was kind of weak though.
I could've really enjoyed it if it wasn't for literally every scene with carrie anne moss and malcom mcdowell. Their scenes were so awful, it's like whenever they appeared everything just got stupid. Downgrading Claudia to such a cliche villain was just dumb (it's been ages since I played the game but I'm pretty sure there was a lot more to her character then being a delusional bitch). That final fight scene was pretty shitty, too, but I guess it was easier (cheaper) to pull off then the giant fucking monster transformation the game had. I didn't really care for the whole replacing the subplot with the detective with a romance subplot, but I guess that's just typical hollywood shit. The scenes with the monsters (not counting the final one) were pretty cool though so idk i'd guess i'd give it like a 5.9/10.
Sooo, this or Sinister?
Sooo, this or Sinister?
I've heard Sinister is extremely run of the mill scary movie. This at least seems entertaining.
I saw the commercial on TV, I could of sworn I saw the umbrella corp symbol.
I'm not a Silent Hill person but is it related to Resident Evil?

Nope.

Funny thing is Saturday night when I got to the theater I told the person selling tickets that I wanted to see Resident Evil. She said it wasn't playing anymore and I was really confused. Luckily the person I was with was able to correct me. I guess I subconsciously think of all mediocre movie adaptations of video games as being the same...

why is no one coming out with good horror movies
fuck
all I can look forward to is; Mama, The Bay, and the Collection now
fuck
those all seem like shit movies why look forward to them
Sinister is the best horror film to come for a long time.
Genuinely creepy, disturbing and downright jumpy at times.
[sp]That lawn mower scene[/sp]
Can someone explain to me how Sean Bean is with his daughter in this movie when at the end of the last one [sp]the daughter and her mum are clearly in some other world, even though they're home[/sp].
Or do they just not explain that?

they throw in a quick explanation that the mom found some weird medallion thing that allowed her to send the daughter back home, but she had to stay since apparently only one was allowed through
I can't stand the Silent Hill movies just out of how Hollywoodified they are. Harry Mason? Nah, we can't have men being anything but flat badasses or clumsy idiots, replace him with a generic female horror movie lead who won't stop screaming and crying ever. Besides, mothers clearly love their children more than fathers, why would a father do all this?
How about since we wrapped up Silent Hill 1's plot in such a way that makes the third movie impossible without some magical retcon device, lets do the second movie. Psychological thriller, people have been saying it would make a good movie for years, plus we'd get to use Pyramid Head properly so real fans and casual fans can both love it. Plus the story doesn't require you to see the last movie to see this one. Oh what? It's too smart of a movie? Not enough gore and monsters in every scene? Ok fine, lets do the third movie and add a wacky highschool drama to the mix, also take out the god stuff and any ambiguity to Claudia, we're a christian nation after all.
They're not that bad for generic horror movie standards but I feel insulted with every change they make to the story. I understand lots of times books and games have to be changed in their movie adaptations for many reasons, but every change to the silent hill stories has basically been "to make it more like a B quality horror movie" because I guess people can't accept the story as is.
Silent Hill 1 is good in it's own right. Obviously if you compare it with the game it's gonna look like shit.
Just watched it with my mate, I found it not at all scary, only cheap scares like jumpy shit, no real fear inducing tension.
Also the acting was just ughhhh even Sean Bean's accent was atrocious
I cannot believe how wooden the acting is and how poorly delivered every single line of this movie is
even like regular conversations with them are laced with this kind of forced importance

Most of them were wooden, but the guy that played vincent holy fucking shit he's probably the worst actor I've ever seen

Even though I disliked the movie I've gotta say that it's made me want to play the games (which I've never done)
the games are fantastic
barring the abysmal voice acting theyre stellar psych horror games
so this is worse than the first one then
The first Silent Hill movie was pretty good, except for the annoying kid - they should have found a kid that could act and not over-act.
This new movie was worse then the first one, way too fast paced and threw you into the action without any proper story build up or character build up. It's like they wanted to cram as muchg actiony cool stuff as they could into 1 hour and 26 minutes. Overall rating from me is 5/10
the movie was pure shit both as a Silent Hill Title and Movie on it's own
