don't get an exploder, they're absolutely shitty trucks. [editline]25th July 2012[/editline] basically they aren't good at anything. Can't offroad in one, can't haul a lot of shit, can't pack in 5 people comfortably, the engines are shit to work on, no power, etc. You should get a tahoe.
You both went full retard. Never go full retard. Thanks for the help while it lasted :v:. How about you two never utter another vehicle classification around one another and start calling them AUTOMOBILES~ To the guy who's looking at Explorers: It isn't a bad vehicle, in fact the Explorer has a very very reliable reputation and it's a very capable automobile~. It just doesn't get the fuel economy that I desire, and the 2000 is outclassed by everything that's out there now. In other news, we're contacting an Outback owner today about meeting up if everything sounds right. I won't actually be able to test drive it since I can't drive manual, hah.
You actually went onto an automotive board and thought that no arguments would break out? lurk moar, newfag

If you want a zippy car with somewhat decent gas to gallon, get 240sx like me lol. Fun daily drivers/wrenchtime practice/cheap fixes/reliable. Cons, would be sucky in snow because of rear-wheel drive setup. http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/3159912726.html Within your $8K limit, he already did everything. The engine is a beast, you would just pay a shop to tune the ECU. http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/3136015014.html Way cheaper, with the money left over, you can save it or put some money into this car. This is also a super rare find today http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/3158428581.html This is a great deal for a used Subbie for snow http://littlerock.craigslist.org/cto/3110211634.html Trade him your SUV for cash off? I wouldn't get the Nissan 240sx at all because everyone seems to be working on them all the time. Whether it's on these forums or in those craigslist ad's, it's a little ridiculous. I'll say it now, haven't driven it myself, but these cars seem to be put through the ringer by owners. One that was posted needs work, the other has no AC. I'd take the RAV4. Toyota makes a good cars in my mind, strong running and interior that can take a little abuse. The CRV would be my next choice. I'd stay away from the Element and take the two subi's after that. Do you really expect much better gas mileage though, or is this more of a comfort thing? All of them can take a roof rack so that doesn't matter.
Fuck, I was just looking at buying a Ford Explorer
Then do it, just check out other things first. It's a nice vehicle and is perfectly off-road capable unlike previously stated. I must admit they do feel smaller in the drivers seat than a Tahoe though.

But then on the other hand, that Volvo looks really really nice to me. I think I want a bit more cargo space out of my vehicle though. The Outback was already sold, I forgot to check the date of the ad in my haste. Also, dad isn't crazy about Volvos, so never mind on that one! Welp, I'm going to look at a Scion xB tomorrow morning. That was unexpected.
no i was saying if u want power look for a v6 rav 4. but it will be over the 10k mark
Ah, okay. My current shopping list is as such, in order from most desired to least: Subaru Forester  Subaru Outback Toyota Rav4 Honda CRV Honda Element Scion xB Hyundai Santa Fe (I don't know much about this one, however my parents rented one last year and liked it) My father seems to really want me to get a Nissan Pathfinder or a Toyota 4Runner, which entirely defeats the purpose of this upgrade :v:. He says that they're nicer vehicles than my Explorer, and I don't doubt it assuming we get a newer one.

Why don't you consider a pickup truck? Do you not like the style? Edit: http://www.cnn.com/2011/US/04/26/nissan.recall/index.html

I got a 2002 Pathfinder LE. It is better than my Explorer in every way. For example, when I wake up the first thing I want to do is sit in it. Bose sound system, seat warmers, a frikkin' 6-disc CD player, sunroof, power seats. Oh and it actually drives like an automobile instead of a tank. I am in love. On my way to class this morning, listening to Mahavishnu Orchestra, feeling awesome. Nissan knows how to make a damn car...my god.
