It's a class A drug where I'm from.
How?
Whatever you do, don't drink 8 rockstars in a day. Was a bad idea..
Fuck I drink tea three times a day.
Am I going to die?
The wonderful benefits of the antioxidants probably outweigh any potential problems from the tea.
I've started just drinking herbal teas. I just bought a nice one, here. It's yerba mate, and is sweetened with stevia. Stevia is a sweet herb. It's a natural sugar substitute.
So, would I function better if I completely omitted it from my life?
Mild doses of caffeine can actually help performance in thinking and such. But constant high doses make you crash unless you build up a tolerance which makes so you don't crash very hard or at all. But a little caffeine never really hurt anyone. I used to drink half an energy drink before tests and such.. But I have a high tolerance.
Caffeine affects the heart.
Then I probably shouldn't be drinking so much considering I have a heart problem...
Rate me hearts so I can build a stronger heart. :3:
Oh great, after seeing this thread I just realized how much I depend on caffeine... shit.

Okay, thanks for the info. However, one of the incentives for creating this thread was to acquire additional info on the advantages of a caffeine-null diet, such as whether one would encounter equivalent or higher cognitive performance than those with dependencies on the substance.
No one noted that caffeine dehydrates you
it's up to you, it's not really tremendously bad for you.
In large amounts obviously it's unhealthy and can cause heart palpatations.
I stopped having caffeine (switched to decaff tea and coffee) and i sleep better. That's the only real benefit for me.
who needs sleep, pffff. Now to go back to drinking my 200 cans of monster bfc.
I'm sure most people in the UK are addicted to caffeine.
Same goes for Sweden *cough*entire adult generation*cough*
i'm so addicted to caffine i might as well just inject myself with it...
Now I look back on it, caffeine has probably damaged my heart and body quite a bit...

Ditto, but it's incurred as many positives too, and I'm sure your body will repair over time. After stopping it, I felt significantly more depressed, even weeks after; I had also encountered a substantial decline in cognitive performance, particularly with memory, but had also attained greater accuracy due to its decline.
Talking about Caffeine, time for my over-sugared morning work coffee.

Try omitting it for a change, and then keep is posted on your results.
I'm too addicted to caffeine :(
I'm too addicted to caffeine :(
Ouch :(
So, would I function better if I completely omitted it from my life?
Not really. I used to drink coffee to help me get up for high school. It helped a little bit, and I never crashed. I guess it depends on your body, but you probably won't notice a big difference.
Caffine doesn't do jack shit to the brain.
It does make your heart beat faster, though.
Caffine doesn't do jack shit to the brain.
It does affect the brain, mostly by binding to adenosine receptors in neurons, thereby causing the pituitary gland to secret adrenaline to further increase neural activity.
You guys act like caffeine is some kind of hard drug or something. You really should try amphetamine or better yet, methamphetamine if you really want some more energy, though as you all "get addicted so badly omgomg to coffee", I wouldn't do amphetamine nor would I ever touch methamphetamine.
