Yeah, DOOM's good, but not the king of hip-hop. I highly doubt after he dies he'll have everyone crazy as shit because a hologram of him appeared on stage.
future of hip hop
No Lil Wayne is the king of hip hop, seriously. Gucci Man is archduke
Vintage 2007 Lil Wayne was, seriously he was everywhere.
snip sigh idk why the tags are not working
Vintage 2007 Lil Wayne was, seriously he was everywhere.
hahahaha when was lil wayne ever good ever at all
Lil' Wayne is the greatest, How To Love was one of the greatest tracks ever. Weezy goes hard as fuck.
[sp]this is sarcasm[/sp]
Vintage 2007
WHAT lol
wayne is good not gonna lie
I mean he's totally got worse recently (his "rock" album was not good :v:) but if you look past his singles which generally aren't really even that good he's got some pretty solid work. Tha Carter II, III and IV have been pretty inconsistent in quality but there's not really any truly terrible tracks I'd say and each album's got some great ones. None of them singles (except Fireman, that goes pretty hard I'd say)

proper quality tracks imo
defending lil wayne as my first post in a hip-hop thread lmao probably doesn't give the best impression
but I'll admit he is a pretty mediocre rapper. Lyrically he's not the best (good rhymer tho) and sometimes his stuff straight up doesn't make much sense, but he's got good flow imo. He's also way more up himself than he should be in terms of how actually talented he is :v: Like constantly repping how he's the best rapper ever? Yea, no.
going to jail ruined wayne's career imo. wiz blew up during that time and took the throne and now big sean is coming up fast too, and being that he's not exclusively rapping about weed in every song sean may get a bigger fanbase, not to mention the fact that he's younger and backed by hip-hop royalty. Wayne will always be a legend but he's losing relevancy. Carter IV was weak overall. the king of hip hop is kanye. fuck jay z, he hold back with his new raps. dont believe me? listen to his little known freestlyes with big L in 95 or shiny suit theory with jay elec. nobody released anything comparable to MBDTF in terms of quality or cohesion in the last 10 years except maybe eminem , and there's no way the king of hip hop is white.
i guess i'm a bit late but DOOM runs this shit dog
muhfuckin supervillian
also A$AP dropped a new song like just now

pretty dope if you ask me
I love both of their material (Hit-Boy / Aesop Rocky) and understand this is a big deal because it's their first release together, but I'm not into this one.
[sp]Aesop Rocky[/sp]
edit: i think it'll grow on me!
Ive tried hard to get into DOOM, hes pretty good and mad appreciation for him but i cant help but be a bit bored by him on the mic, his beats are interesting but not my thing
Should give dangermouse i listened though, only listened to viktor vaughn and madvillain

Spoek Mathambo - Father Creeper
Pretty damn good experimental hip-hop/electronic/ethnic for the year. It's my first listen so I'm not quite sure how to describe it, but it's intense.

you must be new here.
EDIT:
mikey I agree that lil' wayne is a good rapper, and so do most people here probably. I just don't like the direction he's going with the rock album, singing horribly on how to love and all these terrible artists he's signing to cash money (t-pain, nicki minaj, drake, lil twist, tyga etc)

I used to criticize Wayne because his voice is a bit stupid and he dresses really gimmicky, but then I realised that I love public enemy and flava flav so I have no room to hate on Wayne
yeah as long as we keep him away from a guitar it's all good.
AK'z you appear to want feedback on that album, so I'm going to listen to all of it and write a review. mostly because I'm bored.
Yeah I think his direction is totally wrong, hopefully he learnt from the reception of Rebirth that it was a bad move. But Tha Carter IV was pretty weak as well, and he's done loads of shitty verses on mediocre artists recently. I think he also said Tha Carter IV is probably his last album, ending his career on a low note :v: he still might put out more though, hope so because I think he's still got potential. I love Tha Block is Hot and Tha Carter II and III, as long as he sticks to those styles he should be good :v:
Would really like to see how he takes something like his old stuff now actually
I don't think he'll return to the older stuff. Waynes being labelled 'bubblegum rap' a lot nowadays and I think he's fine with that title. However we can always hope he puts out another mixtape soon, those are always really good.

cool, I don't really need feedback, just for others to know about it. ;)
Yeah it's just wishful thinking really, if he does put out another album I'm not expecting a whole lot. It'll be alright but not much more I don't think. Yeah, as you said he never argues his current labelling and position as a musician, he's pretty comfortable where he is I reckon. He'll be sticking to it.

That album was fucking brilliant, I usually find 'experimental' hip-hop (such as Death Grips) really bland but this was just amazing. I don't even know if I'd call it a hip-hop album but still a great listen.
9/10

all of these were terrible
anyone can have "good flow" when all you do is ramble incoherently about getting laid and getting shitfaced, being able to tell a story with a decent vocabulary and THEN keeping up a good rhyme scheme and flow is the real challenge
i.e. lil wayne sucks and has always sucked
what are some good rap albums from 2012
so far I've enjoyed schoolboy q's habits & contradictions and heems's nehru jackets
new asap track wow^
