way disappointed, it's missing everything that makes me like captain murphy. the beats boring and 4/5 of the track is by a guest rapper who sounds like he's a stroke victim or something, it's slow, sloppy and boring. then finally murphy comes in but even his verse is just so depressingly effortless and boring. the whole track sounds like it was made at 4am when they were all bored and desperately trying to pump out a track before the sun came up [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] not to mention he's hyping everyone up saying he'll drop Duality when he gets 10k followers, then like 400 followers away from the goal he says it comes out on the 15th?
dude he's a villain, he drops it whenever. to be honest i still like it a lot. first listen i was thinking exactly what you said, but second listen it was pretty fucking awesome. it's kinda different, but the references were cool like always and im still hyped.
i can't wait for the j cole kendrick lamar collab album to drop
im waiting for that ab-soul/JMSN. woo.
I was not a fan of Cole World at all when it first came out, but the more I listened to it, the more the songs grew on me. I still can't stand Never Told and Daddy's Little Girl, though. Overall I think he's okay, but has the potential to be way better. It almost felt like his delivery was off in Cole World, I don't know how to describe it. [editline]5th November 2012[/editline] And I didn't know Kendrick and J. Cole were doing a collab, wonder how that came about
cole did produce the beat for kendrick's song HiiiPower
No love for the underground; sad for hip hop
The underground would get more love if it spent more time innovating and less time imitating songs from the 90s and whining about how music is different now and how they get no love. Like the guy in that first song is clearly trying to be ~lyrical~ but on a technical level he's not really very skilled, probably a little below Drake. It's a pretty mediocre attempt at 90s alt-rap with a nice video. I'm not trying to say it's awful or don't listen to it, but acting like it's some massive injustice that it's not way more popular than it is is pretty silly.

But if you want to compare indy to Drake; property of a corporation, ok. Its not like theyre even wanting to be famous or heard either like you said. Theyre perfectly fine like that. Thats why I like them imo Its always that assumption that underground is frequently trying to rise; perhaps from the likes of Nas. Its not always the case
this convo is gay. no phobo.

They have no technical ability at all. And from a musical standpoint it's really Jarring.
