This is a thread for anyone who likes Hip-Hop music or wants to start listening to it. Try to be helpful to newcomers instead of attacking them for thinking soulja boy's a deep lyricist or some shit. Heres some music:
Nah there wasnt. GKMC is defintiely one AOTY. Objectively.
Control System was my 2012 hip-hop AOTY, GKMC was a close second.
damn, pandora dropped this sweet gem into my library
I feel bad for saying GKMC was my AOTY because it has such a big circlejerk over it but god, I loved that album [editline]26th January 2013[/editline] also new talib kweli album artwork i should probably check out his solo stuff because i love black star

gkmc aoty 2012
gkmc aoty 2012
ehhhhhhhhhh debateable but i cant rlly think of anything off the top of my head that really stood out other than that
Casey Veggies' new mixtape, Life Changes is hella dope, go download it http://www.datpiff.com/Casey-Veggies-Life-Changes-mixtape.443452.html
Wrath of Caine was supposed to come out a few minutes ago but the page just says coming soon aaaah why http://www.datpiff.com/Pusha-T-Wrath-Of-Caine-mixtape.443448.html
pushed it back qq
gkmc aoty 2012
still voting for history will absolve me good kid maad city was a dope conscious rap album and the skits and everything really tied it together, it was an amazing album no doubt (and i'd say definitely #2 aoty), and like i can't say anything bad about the production and definitely not the lyrics but history will absolve me's production was so unique imo, and billys flow and lyrics and messages were all really fresh and interesting and i just find myself coming back to history will absolve me more than good kid maad city. its like they're both amazing albums but if anything the semi-experimental production on HWAM is what won out over GKMC. GKMC's production was unique, catchy and overall great but i mostly find myself just running back to like 3-4 tracks on the album. with HWAM every single track's production was pretty "out there" imo, and coupled with billy's unique half-talking half-rapping flow and clever lyricism and messages being put forward by each song i think overall it was a better album
I got so much shit in my downloads folder from Datpiff that I haven't bothered organizing in my music folder, I should probably get on that.
Doesn't Matter from Wrath of Caine has one of the biggest changes in quality I've seen in a song Pusha's verses are amazing, but French Montana's hook is the laziest, shittiest thing ever
