The problem is people hear this shitty music that the industry passes off as rap and listeners never get into b/c they believe its all a bunch goons who do drugs and talk about nonsense. It's pathetic, really, how within a decade hip hop went from iconic, to names like lil Wayne and drake(I'm not sure if that last one is correct b/c idon't listen to radio, but I think it might be one under lil dick sukers label) I Mean I got into hip-hop listening to Jedi Mind tricks Non-phixion, The Arsonist, Del tha fukny homosapien, Big L, Mobb deep etc... And I just can't stand to see my 'MONA LISA' get destroyed [editline]7th March 2012[/editline]
This is a thread for anyone who likes Hip-Hop music or wants to start listening to it. Try to be helpful to newcomers instead of attacking them for thinking soulja boy's a deep lyricist or some shit.[QUOTE/] I'm sorry but i just don't find tech9 any good, he's got a nice flow an all but the rymes are too linear
stuff
i used to listen to a lot of jedi mind tricks, non phixion, immortal technique, and rappers on the babygrande label, etc. when i was 15 and in a hardcoor rap phase. i was obsessed with the buzzword "real" lol. then i just grew up really, and realized underground rappers aren't objectively more authentic than mainstream rappers. (that's barring any actual activism outside of music, of course.) it's just that i preferred them. also lol: <3

I particularly like the lyrical content of people like Immortal Technique because it promotes a realistic outlook with an ideology that I can agree with. Big label rap seems materialistic at times and whiny at others, and the corporations behind the artists are basically just making whores out of producers and MCs for their own personal gain.

So what does everyone think about Rella? I know I'm kind of late but I still love the song.

That's like saying that beef is ultimately superior to pork; it depends on the type you choose and how it's cooked. I judge artists on an individual basis. I prefer Eminem to Lil' Wayne because of the style, and his lyrics have at least a little bit of substance. I prefer Lowkey and Immortal Technique to either, though, because I feel that their lyrics mean more than what mainstream artists are allowed to put out. Mainstream has quality control, which means that it has limits to how good it can get just as well as how bad it can get. Underground hip-hop doesn't really have that, which means that while it has more potential for ideological diversity, it also means that it's got more potential to be just 100% godawful. It's just my opinion, though.
Here's some of my favorites from my favorite rappers: Beastie Boys - Intergalactic Childish Gambino - You See Me The Cool Kids - Black Mags Kanye West - Through The Wire Kid Cudi - Pursuit of Happiness and this kickass remix Lil' B - I Own Swag Mac Miller - Best Day Ever N*E*R*D - Spaz Odd Future The Pack - Club Stuntin' I also like: Lil' Wayne Hopsin Tyga Wiz Khalifa Wu-Tang Clan Yelawolf

A lot of the time it isn't though, and rappers just use it as filler.

Rediscovered my love for Cudi after listening to MotM and A Kid named CuDi again after awhile.. Damn why was MotM2 and WZRD have to be such a disappointment? I guess MotM 2 wasn't as disappointing but still.. I hope he makes some good music again soon

I don't normally listen to Cudi, and I know it "wasn't supposed to be hip-hop", but even as Alt Rock or whatever... it was still boring.
