Honestly, I'm against most modern day "Hip-Hop". It's ruining the genre. Soulja Boy is more like pop to me... ...and although Kanye West sounds good, he sneaks in a in Keri Hilson's song "Knock You Down". Slick Rick was a both a visionary and a positive influence to the generation. Must one person simply say he's him just to sound better?!? In my opinion, Real rap is in '79-'91, and some later. MF Doom, De La Soul, MC Lyte, Special Ed, KMD, A Tribe Called Quest, 3rd Bass, Slick Rick, Biz Markie, Ahmad, Beastie Boys, Skee Lo, Public Enemy, The Lox, and Sir Mix-A-Lot are the ones with the dope beat, Pleasant sounding Lyricist, and made rap POETRY. Tl;dr version: Rap was a lot better years ago, don't say "Rap sucks" if you don't recognize the greatest.
I agree with you completely. Native Tongues Posse were the greatest lyricists of all time. They were poets. And NWA and it's individual members paved the way in gangsta rap. And Dre was one of the best producers, and Ice Cube wrote all the lyrics, and Eazy-E had a high pitched voice and got aids. But there is a lot of good rap out there now too. I still like Eminem, and Outkast are really good. Lil' Wayne, Kanye, and The Roots are also pretty good. But De La Soul will always be my favourite. There's also a lot of really good underground stuff. It's off the wall. Also I really like Eazy-E that joke was in bad taste I'm sorry.

All the best stuff is from the 90's in my opinion, there's a few good albums before and after but they're nothing in comparison, especially early 90's. Even good rappers from the 90's aren't as good now :( 80's had shit beats and 00's had sell-outs and more shit beats.
Hip hop is cool! I thought it started in the Bronx! I hate Joe Budden though. He sounds like an asthmatic donkey having a seizure when he raps. And he's a douche.
Oh C'mon Joe Budden has some good stuff and he's only half douche.

The Guru, Big L, Fat joe, Big pun, Exhibit( around the time Big l was alive) , Dose one, Sole, Eyedea, Slug, 45, and Mos Def. thats pretty much all i listen to now. They all started out as east coast rappers, some died that way. I miss when Fat joe was fucking ridiculous. When big pun died he took a bitch trip.
NO! Hiphop was invented in the wealthy LA suburbs.
