you used to be cool [editline]11:58PM[/editline] bring back the cat with sunglasses avatar
As was said earlier, there's no difference other than in the perceptions of people who listen to it. In other words, people who don't listen to hip-hop and call it stupid based on generalizations call it rap. People who actually listen to it call it hip-hop. Mainstreamers usually call it both.
What the fuck is a "mainstreamer"
What the fuck is a "mainstreamer"
Precisely what I was thinking. :raise:
Just because we don't like hip hop doesn't mean we listen to people screaming.
you used to be cool [editline]11:58PM[/editline] bring back the cat with sunglasses avatar
I'm sick of this "you used to be cool" shit I'm sorry I grew up while the rest of you nasally dweebs kept playing video games and masturbating

Public Enemy - Fight the Power It gets no better
What the fuck is a "mainstreamer"
Eh, it's alright. I usually say the same thing when old people use the term "hip-hopper". Okay, have it your way. Does "person with a preference to mainstream music" sound better?
Eh, it's alright. I usually say the same thing when old people use the term "hip-hopper". Okay, have it your way. Does "person with a preference to mainstream music" sound better?
No cause you have a preference FOR things, not TO them. lern 2 talk Anyway hip hop and rap mean the same thing, hip hop is just less used now.
it's cute how people are true hip-hop fans and like nwa
"what"
Metaphors make sense. The impression I get is that most of the time he just writes a load of meaningless crap with the excuse it's all metaphorical, but maybe I just don't "get it".
Maybe you should listen to his music and them form your own opinion instead of going with someone else's
I have listened to it thanks, not lots I'll admit as I found it boring [editline]08:30PM[/editline] I won't say his music is bad because it's not and he's a pretty good rapper, I just don't like his lyrics [editline]08:34PM[/editline] I like him in this song
I prefer the term Hip-Hop, to me, I class like the more hardcore artists as rap such as, Ice-T, Ice Cube, NWA, usually it delves in the old school. I use Hip-Hop for the more soft-voiced rappers and new comers such as Mos Def, Asher Roth, NERO, and Cudi. But then again, it does usually vary on the song since Mos Def has some hardcore thought-provoking songs. But hey, that's just me.
it's cute how people are true hip-hop fans and like nwa
NWA pretty much defined Gangsta Rap, you can't deny that they're most likely a major influence on many rappers today and basically the icon for a certain chapter of hip-hop/rap. and without them, Common wouldn't have made, 'I Used To Love H.E.R.'

Epitome of the hip-hop message:
ah hip hop, I remember the days when I was one of those "rap is crap hurf durf listen to slipknot" tossers, then one day i guess I just got smart. The funny thing I find is that most good rap/hip hop lyrics are tenfold better than the best death metal or what have you lyrics. Recently I've got into El Producto quite a bit and for some reason i can't stop listening to this song [editline]10:51AM[/editline] also harder than you think
