Buddy whatever you do, I don't recommend going up the attic. I live in South Florida and the strongest storm I've braved through was Hurricane Charley (category 4) back in 2004. A lot of things went "bang" against the walls and the metal shutters, a portion of the roof collapsed into itself after a wind shear and leaked quite a bit. After the storm, the front yard was filled with random roof tiles and branches and most of the fencing were either knocked down or floating in the lake. Be careful if you decide to go to your local grocery or drug store, some people can be very nasty when you're trying to buy some bottled water or even a pack of soap. I wish you the best my friend, watch out for the baddies.
Why hasn't Australia banned this Cyclone yet? Best of lucks to you OP, and all Australians!

Bushfires, flood, Cyclone, WHAT IS NEXT!!!!?
It's like 5 hours away. It's hitting my town too. I'm shitting myself. They told us to stay calm if our roof comes off. Are you fucking kidding me.
Further south, the wind has also started to pick up in Townsville and people are filing into six evacuation centres across the city.
Damn, best of luck.
I pray to Cthulhu that my dad will be alright.
By the way guys, Hurricane Katrina was a strong category 3 when it made landfall in Louisiana, and Hurricane Ike was a strong category 2 when it made landfall in Galveston. Landfall being the moment the eye of the storm leaves the water. Cyclone Yasi is a Category 4 (and is making landfall around 11pm tomorrow as such) on the SSHS. It's predicted to have a 12 meter storm surge. Hurricane Ike had an 18 foot surge if I remember correctly. Let me remind you what Ike did to Galveston: People are still missing from that. God speed OP. lol the one house
Embrace the storm, tame it, take it for walks and have it shit on your neighbors lawn.
I'm in syd, hoping for the best for you guys up north. First the floods and now this shit. Rest of 2011 better be goddamn rainbows for you guys...
Last time Innisfail was flattened, the price of bananas went up to AUS$30/kg. I like bananas, but I can't afford that!
Good luck brother man wishing you stay safe.
Updated OP with new tracking map of cyclone. About to hit the worst pretty soon. [editline]2nd February 2011[/editline]
It's like 5 hours away. It's hitting my town too. I've been through a Category 5 Cyclone before, in Western Australia.

[editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] Whereabouts do you live?
Wunderground has a pretty good tracking system. http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/tracking/sp201111.html Just be aware that they use the SSHS system and not the Aussie system.

Maybe the powerpuff girls will save the OP since they live in Townsville too!
Remember to do what they said on the news and open the windows on your house on the opposite end of the storm's approach vector! Atmospheric pressure will drop suddenly as the cyclone passes overhead and because the pressure inside the house will still be normal, the air will try to escape outwards potentially causing windows to explode outwards. Godspeed, kind sir! I look forward to hearing from you again when you survive this bastard's rampage!
They say you shouldn't judge people before you meet them, but I'm starting to think this Yasi guy's a real cock.
Seriously hope you make it out of this alright dude, can't imagine what it's like Though I am curious Also people stop posting retarded powerpuff girl bullshit, it was on the front page and it's still going on.
Shit OP, good luck dude and here's hoping you'll make it through it :buddy:
