Son, get in the bathtub and surf that hurricane out like a boss.

has the hurricane done any damage yet?
has the hurricane done any damage yet?
Shit loads, apparently. You've got to bear in mind it's currently the middle of the fucking night over here in Australia (4AM for me). So far the only reports of damage are more or less from people who are making phone calls. We won't know the full extent of the damage for another 3... 4... maybe even 5 hours. We're gonna have to wait until sunrise and for the cyclone to pass over areas before damage can start being assessed.

Currently the only youtube video I can find of Yasi's power/damage so far. You know things are bad when a whole area is lit up as if it was completely underwater by one light, at midnight. (0:06)

IP cam with nightvision pointing south. I'd rather it at least point toward where the cyclone's gonna come from.
EDIT:
found a better ustream.

EDIT2:
"Live stream started 30 seconds ago."
Either this is the aftermath or before the storm hits.

Found an actual live laptop webcam streaming.

Well, it's a cat. 2 now.
God Speed OP. I hope you will be alright.
It said was gonna have night thunderstorms yesterday and today, and today, no thunderstorms.
Supposedly no casualties or even serious injuries reported yet. Or so I hear.
Guess who's alive? Aww yeah. Scariest fucking night of my life, apart from the time I got high and visited my school at night. But there were no flying trees in that.
yay
I'm safe though, no power except for this laptop which is set to run out soon. Will post pictures once power goes up again. New thread for pictures? Agree for yes, disagree for no.

Update OP with pictures.
Glad you're alright, man!

So we heard you like boats.
I was watching the news at like 10:30pm last night and lol'd hard at how they constantly got the reporters to stand out in the rain whilst reporting.
Honestly that was pretty terrifying.
Fucking awesome, I haven't heard of any casualties yet :buddy:
I got a call from my uncle...The media hyped it up a lot, there was hardly any serious damage, and NO casualties! :D

It WASN'T hyped up. It WAS a category 5 cyclone. It was packing wind speeds of above 200km/h and had gusts of 295km/h. It was almost the size of the united states of America. You can NOT over estimate a storm of that magnitude.
If we HADN'T taken all of the necessary steps to evacuate people, and had building codes not been updated after Larry and prior cyclones I'd bet you money that we'd have had deaths.
Man us Queenslanders are having a good 2011 so far.
Do you know why there's hardly any casualties? Because people were actually smart and evacuated. There was due warning.
Of course, there's always going to be that one group of people in a church praying and thinking God will protect them, so let's count that as suicide rather than a casualty.
Watching the streaming... Glad i'm not there.
