It's been at least 5 years since I've seen LotR, it really isn't that unbelievable that I forgot a lot of it.
There's a whole chapter in the first book that got looked over. Not to mention Peeves, he was originally a pretty big character. Only other book that I've read recently was the beginning of the 4th, and that one had a pretty fucking funny opening chapter too that was completely skipped. The Weasleys are supposed to travel by floo powder to the now boarded up fireplace, bust the whole thing down, and the twins slip Duddley a toffee that makes his tongue swell to the size of a giant snake. Then there's a whole other scene at the Weasleys house where they're levitating tables and making them smash into each other, among other things I can't remember. In the movie it just starts with him at the Weasleys and then they go to the quidditch world cup even though that doesn't even happen until chapter 3 or 4 iirc. They also cut out the whole deal with the campgrounds, the tents, the merchants with all the cool shit they buy, all of that. And there's way more in the rest of the books that got skipped. Yeah, fuck them for taking a fucking awesome book and making a mediocre movie out of it. I fucking lived on those books as a kid, the movie adaption is a joke compared to the original work.
peeves was never a big character (else they would have explored his character more), he was just there at the wrong time and tried to fuck shit up.

Hogwarts' ghosts debated whether or not Peeves should be allowed to attend the feast. While the Fat Friar was willing to give Peeves another chance, Nearly Headless Nick felt Peeves did not deserve to be even considered; ghosts had been given a bad name because of him.[2] After the Welcoming Feast, Peeves appeared to torment prefect Percy Weasley as he led the Gryffindor first years to Gryffindor Tower. Peeves threw walking sticks at the prefect, disregarded Percy's threat to tell the Bloody Baron, responded by blowing a raspberry, dumped even more walking sticks onto Neville Longbottom's head and left.[2] Later in the year, Peeves caught Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, and Neville sneaking around the school after curfew. He teased them and then loudly alerted Filch to their presence in the halls. However, once Filch arrived, Peeves did nothing but antagonise him.[2] In October, Ron suspected Peeves to have been the one who released the troll but it turned out that Quirrell had done it. Among other things obviously. Sure the second one isn't that important to the plot, but I vividly remember that part from the book. He wouldn't have been written in if he didn't have a purpose

Why are we talking about Harry Potter stuff now?
Why are we talking about Harry Potter stuff now?
Harry Potter, Hobbits, whatever.
Why are we talking about Harry Potter stuff now?
Actually, I was thinking about it before, and the two are pretty similar. Evil character is crippled in a sense in both, rising to power, and the good guys need to destroy inanimate objects in order to get rid of them for good.
Yeah but one has Orcs.
It seemed like everything in LotR was more interesting than in HP, but the wizard fighting in LotR sucked. LOOK AT ME, I'M AN OLD GUY FLYING AROUND THE ROOM! Fuck that, I wanna see Saruman turned into a rat.
Frodo is a useless whiny bitch
I'd gladly watch them all again, I love the Lord of the Rings movies.
Frodo is a useless whiny bitch
Frodo has two emotions: Calm, and HOLY SHIT MY FAMILY WAS JUST MASSACRED BRUTALLY IN FRONT OF ME
Frodo has two emotions: Calm, and HOLY SHIT MY FAMILY WAS JUST MASSACRED BRUTALLY IN FRONT OF ME
Well he is being chased by Nazgul whilst carrying something that's corrupting his soul. I wonder what soul corruption feels like, sounds painful.
He could still show at least a couple more emotions throughout THREE movies
Yeah. I think the ONLY thing I dislike about the movies is when Frodo makes the same stupid face every time he gets stabbed/impaled/stung.
