They are insanely loyal, very loving, great with kids, friendly, and generally all around awesome.
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
and they never stop smiling :3:
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
They are also not too big or too hyper
I will also mention my favourite breed: German Shorthair.

Hedda, the 7-year old puppy.
They however need a lot of exercise and they are not the kind of dogs that would have a good life if they couldn't hunt.
My mom said no to the husky (fuck her, I'll save up for a dog myself). She said maybe on the retriever, which I love.
Siberian huskies may be cute, but they require a lot of exercise.
oh man im so happy i dont have a dog

Cats win dogs.

Cats just see their owner as the guy who cleans up after them. They don't give two shits if you're happy with them or not. Dogs, on the other hand, want you to be happy with them. They acknowledge that you care for them and love you for it.

Unless it's a miniature Dachshund.

My cat is nothing like that.
The thread is called "Dogs" for a reason. Go talk about cats somewhere else.

Okay, I won't troll anymore
I've got a Black Labrador Retriever, who is amazingly loyal, well behaved, and overall a fucking awesome dog. I'd recommend a Retriever, German Shepherd, or a cattle dog.
French bulldog
Pug, EYES pops out
I had a lab/husky mix. He shed like a motherfucker but he was still fantastic.
We had to put him down shortly after Christmas, he was almost 15 :(

Owning a Saint-Bernard, i say this. Just be careful as they drool fucktons.
I also own a Shih-Tzu and my Shih-Tzu tries to copulate with it.
I have two fancy-schmancy purebred labradors, and a springer-spaniel/blue heeler mix. And let me tell you, theres a slight chance your labs will be fucked up.
Dog #1: Lexi, 4 years old, black lab. Born blind, epileptic, obsessive eater (a bit overweight naturally, she will eat anything and everything, constantly steals things out of the sink, breaking crap, etc.) We started medicating her for the epilepsy and she became much less rambunctious, but she's still a naughty little wanker so we can't ever leave food unattended, even rappers, empty plastic-ware or garbage. She has this adorable thing she does where she crosses her paws over when she's laying on her stomach, and she's the sweetest thing when food isn't involved.
Dog #2: Gabby, less than a year old yellow lab. The dumbest fucking puppy ever, but god she's so adorable and I love her to death. She responds to 'Gabby', 'Gibby', 'Chippy', 'Chip-Chip', 'Lil Ole Man', and 'Lil Mister Man', respectively, which is surprising since she can't do anything else right. Saying any of these names will cause her to freak out and frantically run over to wherever you happen to be, wagging her tail so hard she can't walk in a straight line. Even if she's half asleep, she instantly goes nuts and has this amazing contagious puppy smile. And, she chews everything. Shoes, counters and furniture, even our other dog's faces (we're working on that). But at the same time she's the biggest ball of fun. She regularly develops limps (getting it checked), has diarrhea several nights in a row every few weeks, and for months she would urinate at least hourly (in the house), yet she's still the most fun puppy ever (don't tell that to my other dogs) and I don't regret getting her one bit.
tl;dr: labs can be kinda weird, but they're pretty awesome, get lab(s)
Heres my goggies:

My mother says they're hyper. I'd disagree with her, but I've never heard this as true. What's your opinion?
Norwich Terrier, for sure.
Its like theyre always a puppy. Mine is 9 now but still steals laundry and wants to play with me every minute :D

Though mine has a long tale.
Get a crossbreed. Pure breeds are usually a lot weaker (as seen by Biscuit's pure labs) and more prone to genetically caused diseases.
My grandmother has a pure Cavalier King Charles. It's about 11 years old I think, and he's gone entirely deaf ever since he was 1. I think he started to get serious teeth problems around the age of 5 because of his overly short snout. But God this feller is insanely playful, joyful and still doesn't seem to get tired of his life.
TL;DR: Get crossbreed dogs, avoid short-snouted dogs.
I generally prefer cats, dogs are usually more playful and active. Cats are better companions for lazy people like me who can't be fucked playing in the backyard/walking dogs.
