Yeah I always watch shit to the end, it's like you're purposely not reading what I write. This and one other movie are the ONLY exceptions. And besides, the 3/4 of the movie I had watched was horrible and I couldn't stand it. Even if the last quarter was good that isn't going to make up for the rest and would still overall be a bad movie. I can sit through Alien Resurrection any day over this. Hell I would sit through AVP2 (which I have done) instead of this.
Does the movie jump out of the screen and barbecue your dick every time you watch it or something? What makes it so painful to watch?
And I can actually convey why the 3/4 of the movie was bad. It was incredibly dull, I didn't find it funny, I didn't like any of the characters, the dialogue was mundane, it was badly paced, it had a lot of useless scenes, and overall I couldn't see the last quarter being any better, and believe it or not I had a bunch of other movies I'd rather start watching.

I found myself desperately wanting it to end, before I realised I could end it sooner by clicking the little red X. I had better shit to do that wasn't a waste of my time, that's why.
It's starting to sound like you just don't know anything about the stuff it was satirizing.
I don't know a whole lot, but I'm not completely oblivious. A well made satire shouldn't require extensive knowledge of what it's parodying. [editline]08:52PM[/editline] If it did barbecue my dick maybe I'd have felt more of a connection and immersion to the plot. [editline]08:53PM[/editline] There's no point in trying to convince me otherwise, I was just stating that I love Stanley Kubrick but I don't like that movie, that's all. I'm not trying to convince YOU it's bad. I'm just saying that I thought it was bad.
I don't know a whole lot, but I'm not completely oblivious. A well made satire shouldn't require extensive knowledge of what it's parodying.
Well, I don't know what to say. It seems like every other person on the planet found it funny except you, maybe because you were busying screaming in pain because your dick was being lit on fire or something.
That must have been it, yeah.
The shining is pretty good, so is eyes wide shut, gonna watch a clockwork orange today as well.
Eyes Wide Shut: Great film. Loved every part of it. Who here fapped to the orgy scene?
I love Stanley Kubrick but I hated Dr. Strangelove I had to stop watching it over half way through it was just so bad. I do not understand what anybody likes about it.
Somebody burn this man
Yes, let's burn him for having an opinion. [editline]10:21PM[/editline] Seriously, fuck choice.
His opinion is wrong.
Opinions can't be wrong, they're opinions, what a person feels about a situation.
People who say that usually have wrong opinions.
That statement makes no sense if we take what I just said into consideration. opinion [əˈpɪnjən] n 1. judgment or belief not founded on certainty or proof 2. the prevailing or popular feeling or view public opinion 3. evaluation, impression, or estimation of the value or worth of a person or thing 4. an evaluation or judgment given by an expert a medical opinion 5. (Law) the advice given by a barrister or counsel on a case submitted to him or her for a view on the legal points involved a matter of opinion a point open to question be of the opinion (that) to believe (that)
If I can muscle through Alien 4 then you should be able to watch Dr. fucking Strangelove.
Oh come on! Alien 4 was great!
Supposedly The Shining is proof that the Moon Landing was faked by Stanly Kubrick. http://www.jayweidner.com/ShiningSecrets.html
By far my favorite director. My favorite films are: 1. 2001 2. A Clockwork Orange 3. The Shining 4. Full Metal Jacket
I don't know a whole lot, but I'm not completely oblivious. A well made satire shouldn't require extensive knowledge of what it's parodying.
Considering it's about the cold war, and was made and released at the height of the cold war, I'm pretty sure that audience had extensive knowledge of what it was parodying. Also Peter Sellers plays 3 different characters because he's awesome.
So did anyone else feel that Eyes Wide Shut was Kubrick's finest film?
Stanley Kubrick has to have been one of the greatest directors of all fucking time. Imagine if he did something with Steven Spielberg or something. Also, Eyes Wide Shut was good, but had to watch it about 3 times before not having to say "Seriously what the fuck just happened."
Supposedly The Shining is proof that the Moon Landing was faked by Stanly Kubrick. http://www.jayweidner.com/ShiningSecrets.html
Shit
Imagine if he did something with Steven Spielberg or something.
Technically he did. The film A.I. was originally one of Kubrick's projects, but he handed it over to Spielberg.
Isn't One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest also Kubrick? God, I love that film. Kubrick's always been one of my favourites. I've got Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove, the Shining, Clockwork, and Cuckoo's Nest in my list of seen films.
I fapped to Clockwork Orange.
Technically he did. The film A.I. was originally one of Kubrick's projects, but he handed it over to Spielberg.
Oh yeah.
I've seenall those movies, as well as A.I. which is sort of a collaboration(post mortem, how typically creepy of him) with Spielberg. The only one I don't like is Eyes Wide Shut. I just find it boring, possibly because I don't think Tom Cruise is well cast in that movie. FMJ is half of a great movie. The Vietnam part just isn't as good as the training sequences. It does not help that England looks nothing like Vietnam, haha. He really should have filmed that somewhere NEAR Asia at least. Besides, Paths of Glory is his final word on war. Barry Lyndon is a movie I like looking at more than watching, if that makes sense. The Killing, which isn't on the list is also worth checking out, if only to compare to Tarantino's Reservoir Dogs.
i literally just watched full metal jacket for the first time, really great movie i also saw the shining and clockwork orange
best directer ever. Every movie he's ever made or worked on is a Masterpiece or at least in the case of AI near one.
Stanley Kubrick is my favourite director. Since the day I saw 2001 I was thinking that there's nothing better in moviemaking then Mr. Kubrick. The more masterpieces I saw the more happy I became. It's a shame that there will be no more directors as talented as Kubrick. His works really influence me. I have wrote numerous short stories just in inspiration of Stanley Kubrick's movie. The unique aspect of his movies I believe is the encourage of interpretations and deep thinking. I love how he uses symbolisms in many of his movies to reveal hidden meanings that we never thought about. In conclusion, I love Stanley Kubrick.
