That's assuming you have a nice pothole free surface to ride on, most of the "roads" round here would cripple a road bike.
Good point, yeah my roads are absolute rubbish.
Think about a hybrid bike. Its a wonderful cross between road and mountain. Hybrid bikes are quick like road bikes, but have the ability to drive off road.

Their idea of repairing the potholes is to jam some tar in the hole and leave it. They don't flatten it most of the time and they don't seal it around the edges.

Most of the roads round here feature at least 1 section of potholes all the way across the road and in some cases places where entire chunks of the side of the road have had their foundations washed away and collapsed a foot or two down. You hit that on any kind of bike you're going to be eating tarmac followed by nothing that doesn't fit through a straw for a month. Beautiful example right here from jobs lane, Coventry: Been ;like that since about christmas, slowly growing in size, odds of any kind of repair... slim.

Also saw this on the news the other day:
Don't buy a mountain bike. Buy a new GPU instead.
Don't buy a mountain bike. Buy a new GPU instead.
Don't need a new one, but thanks for your input.
I know a guy who races Hardtail Mountain bikes, and he's sponsored. [editline]02:50AM[/editline] He wins most of the races he's in, but only because hardly anyone races in that category around here. [editline]02:50AM[/editline] He buys me booze.
Nope. :frown:
Don't need a new one, but thanks for your input.
Heh, no problem and okay then. :)
It also requires a lot more effort to ride.
Well You must be pathetically weak to not be able to ride one.
Ended up buying this one (same as in the OP): http://www.evanscycles.com/products/specialized/hardrock-disc-2010-mountain-bike-ec019400 I went to a bike store and ordered it in, as they didn't have the white one in the right size. Should be here between tomorrow and thursday. Will post pics when I get it.
I previously owned a Specialized Hardrock, but an older model before I purchased my Specialized Rockhoppper SL '10. It was a great bike and it was fine for what I was using it for, just simple on-road and off-road tracks. I did the C2C on the Hardrock, I'm sure you'll be pleased with it. :)
mtb
:eng101: ATB all terrain bike
:eng101: ATB all terrain bike
mtb - mountain bike.
They have 2 wheels.
I don't know how to ride a bike and have never been on one because my parents never got me one when I was little.
I don't know how to ride a bike and have never been on one because my parents never got me one when I was little.
Then this is certainly not the right thread for you my friend.
Well You must be pathetically weak to not be able to ride one.
He means it takes a lot more effort to ride one when using it do do actual mountain biking.
They're bikes [editline]01:13AM[/editline] They are usable on mountains [editline]01:14AM[/editline] Trust me, I know, I'm a Doctor
for anyone who cares, I picked it up today, had to get it ordered in because the shop didn't have my size.
