I spent $48 on a special edition of the last mewithoutYou album and that's the highest I've gone.
most i ever spent was thirtysomething euros (like 25-7ish quid) on that limited edition summoning thing
I bought an original copy of King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown for £30, Mala in Cuba box set was about the same that was 4x12" I'm sure I've spent up to £30 for a single
I regularly spend $30 on vinyl Australia prices man its ridiculous
Spent some birthday cash today. Queen - Sheer Heart Attack Orgin. Press Tame Impala -Innerspeaker Thee Oh Sees - Help Animal Collective - Strawberry Jam [t]http://filesmelt.com/dl/photo380.JPG[/t] Money well spent.
Ordered a record from over seas (Spain to USA), was listed as mint condition and showed up with creases and marks all over it. Guess it got pretty fucked up while being handled by USPS. Pretty pissed off.
The preorder I've been waiting months for finally shows up, and its warped massively. Is there is a good way to get the warp out or is it just royally fucked?
get a refund
Yeah, I emailed the label about that. Google tells me that un-warping an LP is very hit and miss process, so I'll try to get a refund and buy a replacement elsewhere.
deff the best way to go
Is there is a good way to get the warp out?
Yes there is good sir. It is a method tried and tested by 0.5 people in the US. You have to apply a thick layer of boot polish onto the surfaces of the record, then BAKE it on high heat on the middle shelf of the oven for 66 minutes. The shoe polish brings the record to a fresh factory finish and even adds more music quality, so in all honesty, that's the way to go.
Boot polish fixes it AND adds more music quality? I'm in! Edit: Label is going to give me a refund and cover my postage costs back. Also found a replacement copy already on ebay. Fuckity fuck yes!
I've had stuff a bit warped before, I put a 4x12 box set on top for a few days and it seems to fix it a bit. But it depends how warped it is
doesn't laying records down on their back and then putting stuff on top of them (ie stacking records vertically) ruin the grooves or something
doesn't laying records down on their back and then putting stuff on top of them (ie stacking records vertically) ruin the grooves or something
crushes the grooves mate.
I don't put massive weight on it so it doesn't affect it adversely but does make it a play better. I've never had proper Pringled records rather ones you only noticed it when you can see the tonearm going up and down.

I've contacted the seller asking about a replacement or some sort of solution to this problem.

I don't know how it happened, but I was brushing off the stylus on my Ortofon 2m Red and the stylus just...fell off. Apparently a replacement is $80 which is silly since the entire cartridge is $90. Instead I just took the Shure M97XE I had on my old turntable and swapped them out. It still sounds pretty good. I also picked up In the Aeroplane Over the Sea and did this.
fuckkkkk i need that album, how much you get that copy for?
$30 on amazon. Pretty reasonable for what you get (3x 180g LP's, 2 posters, and 2 CD's).
a 180 gram birthday present from my stepmum. good way to kick off my floyd vinyl collection (they're all still so expensive)
it looks nice. is it matte?
the current pink floyd represses run for about x5 the cost of an original. they are not in any way worth the price. it's sad
you can get copies of pretty much every Pink Floyd album on Discogs for ~$15 in a good (albeit 40 year old) condition. Same goes for like The Beatles and all that dad-rock era stuff.
at least beatles represses are reasonably priced
I only ever see them for $40+
at least beatles represses are reasonably priced
Whenever I see them, it's like $30 for a single record, like Revolver. It's a fine album, but paying $30 for a single record is too much. Just like when I see the new My Bloody Valentine album, it's always $40 for some reason.
